The River Bluet is blue marked with black, as are many of our Bluet species. Its thorax is blue with a narrow shoulder stripe. The abdomen tip is blue. The females may be pale blue or pale tan.

Habitat: slow streams and rivers

Great Plains Range: NE, SD, NM, CO, WY, MT, IA

Flight season: May to September
