The Taiga Bluet is our only representative of the Coenagrion genus. The male resembles many Enallagma males but has a thorax with a greenish tinge. The second abdominal segment has a black U-shaped mark on top, segments 6 and 7 are mostly black or bronze, and segments 8-10 are blue. The females may be pale blue or greenish. This species often holds its wings like a Spreadwing.
