    Ya-seen _W_A_A_L_qur-anil alhakeemi -- YASIN -- [O MAN] -- _A_N_D_ the wise qur'an .... wakulla shay-in ahsaynahu fee imamin mubeenin -- and everything have we vested in the imam manifest -- in huwa illa zikrun waqur-anun mubeenun -- verily HE IS/this is no less than a reminder and a manifest qur'an [surah yasin 36:1,2,12,69]

  36. 1: C3943. Some Commentators take Ya to be the vocative particle, and Sin to be the abbreviation of Insan, Sin being the only "Firm Letter" in the word. In that case it would be an address to man. "O man!" But "man" in this connection is understood to mean the Leader of man, the noblest of mankind. Muhammad the Prophet of Allah. For this Sura deals mainly with the holy Prophet and his Message. Ya-Sin is usually treated as a title of the holy Prophet. Yusuf Ali's Commentary from QuranTrans

This surah is devoted to the Holy Prophet and the revelation which was revealed to him. This surah is considered to be "the heart of the Quran". Generally Ya Sin is said to be an abbreviation of "0 man!" Even if it is true it refers to the "perfect man", the leader of men, sent by Allah to guide man in all ages, the Holy Prophet.

salaamun alaykum, š³lôm, peace, peace be upon you and ya ali madad 

what does the above [surah fatihah 1:3-5] mean in the qur'anic context only? please note that all muslims, regardless of their caste or creed -- have been commanded to PRAY daily like so. 

at the same time, most muslims believe the said commandment is very clear in its purport and that they should look no further for any other guidance that allah might have given in this regards. rather, they must follow it to the letter as well pray, 'THEE WE ASK FOR HELP'  -- as exhorted.

despite these glaring facts and the muslim tradition and practice thereof for over 14 centuries, this is not the complete story -- because elsewhere in the holy qur'an allah also says the following in some dire words, which can not be taken too lightly:

15) Sūrat Al-Ĥijr

'Inna Rabbaka Huwa Al-Khallāqu Al-`Alīmu (86).

Lo! Thy Lord! He is the All-Wise Creator.

Wa Laqad 'Ātayka Sab`āan Mina Al-Mathānī Wa Al-Qur'āna Al-`Ažīma (87).

We have given thee seven of the oft-repeated (verses) and the great Qur'an.

Wa Qul 'Innī 'Anā An-Nadhīru Al-Mubīnu (89).

And say: Lo! I, even I, am a warner MANIFEST,

Kamā 'Anzalnā `Alaá Al-Muqtasimīna (90).

Such as We send down for those who make division,

Al-Ladhīna Ja`alū Al-Qur'āna `Iđīna (91).

Those who break the Qur'an into parts.

Fawarabbika Lanas'alannahum 'Ajma`īna (92).

Them, by thy Lord, We shall question, every one,

15. 87:
        C2008. The Seven Oft-repeated Verses are usually understood to be the Opening Sura, the Fatihah. They sum up the whole teaching of the Qur-an.  Yusuf Ali's Commentary from QuranTrans

in view of allah's explicit guidance and powerful warning just cited, it is only fair to say that one must follow allah's given criteria and not some farfetched ahadith that were written some 250 years after the holy prophet's [sas] worldly mission and life on earth. 

most of these ahadith, as you know are said to be spurious.  even the likes of  muslim and bukhari have discarded a good chunk of them. and frankly, the ones that have been accepted as genuine -- contradict the holy qur'an itself. unfortunately, this is a common dilemma faced by the promoters and followers of the hadithic tradition since its invention/fabrication several centuries ago. 

ONLY allah and his revelations 

the holy qur'an are/is the divine hadith

 

018.006 Yet it may be, if they believe not in this statement--HADIS, that thou (Muhammad) wilt torment thy soul with grief over their footsteps.

039.023 Allah hath (now) revealed the fairest of statements--hadisii, a Scripture consistent

077.050 In what statement--hadis, after this, will they believe--50. Fabi-ayyi hadeethin baAAdahu yu'minoona ?

  045.006 These are the REVELATIONS of Allah which We recite unto thee (Muhammad) with truth. Then in what HADIS, after Allah and HIS REVELATIONS, will they believe ?

please note how it grieved the holy prophet [sas] because most of his followers did not believe in the DIVINE HADIS namely, the holy qur'an. and as such, allah challenged them as above. 

and more importantly, allah says that -- Allah and HIS REVELATIONS are hadis.  therefore, there could be nothing greater in islam AFTER Allah and HIS REVELATIONS, meaning the holy qur'an and the holy imams [pbuth].

  the mighty kingdom -- mulkan aziima 

4:54. For We bestowed upon the house of Abraham the Scripture and wisdom, and We bestowed on them a mighty kingdom -- mulkan aziima.  6:86. And Ishmael and Elisha and Jonah and Lot. Each one did We prefer above ALL WORLDS, 86.  wakullan faddalna AAala alAAalameena  

:87. With some of their forefathers and their offspring and their brethren; and We chose them and guided them unto a straight path. -- SIRAATIM mustaqeemin. 6:88. Such is the guidance of Allah wherewith He guideth whom He will of His bondmen. 

note how many ''DIVINE '' things have been joined together and bestowed upon the house of abraham [as]. elsewhere, allah says as follows:

follow their guidance 

6:89.     Those are they unto whom We gave 
i.     the Scripture--kitaaba; 
ii.     and command--HUKMAH;
iii.    and prophethood--nabuwwah. 

6:90.     6:90. These are they whom Allah guided, 
therefore follow their guidance - 90. Ola-ika allatheena hada Allahu fabihudahumu iqtadih  --

please take time to study and review the above qur'anic texts as they contain the 'essence of islam' in its entirety. 

'a mighty kingdom -- mulkan aziima' -- mentioned above -- is a very difficult phrase to grapple with.

seriously speaking, how do we translate the word 'aziima'  when this is also allah's name as well, associated with him and his total and absolute revelations in islam -- in one form or the other?  see for example:

biAllahi AZIIMI -- & -- ALIYYUL AZIIM

Deuteronomy 10:17 For the LORD your God is God of gods, and Lord of lords, a  great God, a mighty, and a terrible, ..... : Exodus 32:11 And Moses besought the LORD his God, and said, LORD, why doth thy wrath wax hot against thy people, which thou hast brought forth out of the land of Egypt with great power, and with a mighty hand? 

069.033 Lo! He used not to believe in Allah AZIIMI -- 33. Innahu kana la yu'minu biAllahi AZIIMI .

2:255 -- allahu la ilaha illa -- allah no god except -- huwa alhayyu alqayyoomu -- he is the living, eternal [qaim] --- wa huwal ALIYYUL AZIIM -- and he is ALIYYUL AZIIM.

027.026 Allah no God save HE IS  -- 26. Allahu la ilaha illa huwa -- the Lord of the Throne AZIIM -- rabbu alAAarshi AZIIM

042.004 Unto Him belongeth -- MAA--HE WHO -- that is in the heavens  -- WA MAA -- HE WHO -- and that is in the earth, -- wa huwal ALIYYUL AZIIM -- and he is ALIYYUL AZIIM.

Aqa Mahdi Puya says:  

Amr ibn As, an avowed enemy of Ali, once said:

"Ali is the naba-il azim. He is the babullah (the door through which one enters into the realm of the realisation of Allah)."

Naba-il azim (the great news) here and in verse 67 of Sad, refers to the vicegerency of man to represent Allah on the earth in order to exercise authority on His behalf, i.e. imamah or wilayah.

Hafiz Abu Nu-aym in Hilyatul Awliya says that the Holy Prophet told his companions: "Naba-il-azim (the great news) refers to the wilayah of Ali ibn abi Talib."

dhibhin azim -- sacrifice azim

37:107. And We ransomed him with a momentous sacrifice: --
Wafadaynahu bithibhin AZIIM

[37.107:
C4103. The adjective qualifying "sacrifice" here, 'azim, (great, momentous) may be understood both in a literal and a figurative sense. ... The figurative sense is even more important. It was indeed a great and momentous occasion, when two men, with concerted will, "ranged themselves in the ranks" of those to whom self-sacrifice in the service of Allah was the supreme thing in life. [Pooya/Ali Commentary 37:107]

In verse 107 the sacrifice with which Ismail was ransomed is described as great [dhibhin azim] by Allah, therefore it must be great in absolute degree. ... moreover under no circumstances a ram can be greater than Ismail son of Ibrahim, both the most distinguished prophets of Allah, in whose progeny Allah had appointed His divinely commissioned Imams (see commentary of Baqarah : 124). The ransom, therefore, is essentially a great sacrifice Allah had kept in store for future when the religion of Allah would be perfected and completed after the advent of the Holy Prophet.

This type of service Imam Husayn performed, many ages later, in 60 A.H., and as he was a descendant of Ibrahim and Ismail the credit of "the great sacrifice" goes to them also. For the great sacrifice of Imam Husayn read the biography of Imam Husayn published by our Trust, a close study of which makes clear that his sacrifice has been rightly mentioned as dhibhin azim in this verse. 

Aqa Mahdi Puya says:

Shah Wali-ullah, in Sirrush Shahadaytan, and many other well known authors of traditions and history have accepted the fact that dhibhin azim refers to the sacrifice of Imam Husayn.

 from Our presence  -- ajran Aziimaa-- a reward aziimaa

4:67. And then We should bestow upon them from Our presence a reward AZIIMA, 4:68. And should guide them unto a straight path. 67. Wa-ithan laataynahum min ladunna ajran Aziima 68. Walahadaynahum siratan mustaqeeman

'the hand of Allah is above their hands -- ajran AZIIMA'

48:10. Surely those who swear allegiance to you verily swear allegiance to Allah; the hand of Allah is above their hands. Therefore whoever breaks (his faith), he breaks it only to the injury of his soul, and whoever fulfills what he has covenanted with Allah, He will grant him a mighty reward. 
10. Inna allatheena yubayiAAoonaka innama yubayiAAoona Allaha yadu Allahi fawqa aydeehim faman nakatha fa-innama yankuthu AAala nafsihi waman awfa bima AAahada AAalayhu Allaha fasayu/teehi ajran AZIIMA

48. 10:  C4877. They placed their hands on the Prophet's hand, but the Hand of Allah was above them, and He accepted their Fealty. 'Alaihu is an archaic form for 'Alaihi.

therefore, how or what do we separate from allah's OWN person and/or reduce the holy prophet's 'AZIIM NATURE'  and/or even minimize the significance of the 'mulkan aziima, naba-il azim' 'dhibhin--sacrfice azim'  & 'ajran Aziima'  - when his order is very concise and precise in its purport?

allah has _o_r_d_e_r_e_d_ 

'm_a_a_ -- he who -- that which 
to be _j_o_i_n_e_d_ unto _h_i_m_ -- b_i_h_i_i_'


'm_a_a_ amarallahu _b_i_h_i_i_ any-yuusala'

having said that, the mighty kingdom [mulkan aziima] and command--HUKMAH mentioned herein translate into the holy IMAMATE -- which allah had revealed in succession to the  nabbuwah-- prophethood. for all practical purposes, it was the divine repository -- for all things divine that allah had revealed for mankind and muslims alike. 

and as such, mankind in general and muslims in particular have been commanded to follow 'THEIR GUIDANCE,  which per se, was further eternalized like so,  'With some of their forefathers and their offspring and their brethren; and We chose them and guided them unto a straight path--SIRAATIM MUSTAQIIM.'  

in other words:

AND THESE HAVE BEEN JOINED TOGETHER BY ALLAH  HIMSELF

they cannot be severed from each other and/or FROM ALLAH under any circumstances except what allah will.

SIRATAL LADHINA AN-AMTA ALAYHIM

the meaning of this verse, in the light of other verses, is that to be guided aright, one should, in the absence of the holy prophet, follow ali, and the divinely chosen genuine guides among his progeny, because while departing from this world the Holy Prophet gave his last and final guidance to all his followers, for all times:

I will soon be called back, so I will have to go away from you, but I leave behind, among you, the thaqalayn (two weighty indispensable influential authorities), the book of Allah and my Ahl ul Bayt. Should you be attached to these two, never, never shall you go astray, after me, for verily these two will never be separated from each other; and, joined together, they shall meet me at kawthar.

The Holy Prophet and the Holy Imams are the models.

(2) Ibn Asakir from Ibn Abbas says: "There has not been revealed in the book of Allah, the Quran, regarding any one what has been revealed concerning Ali and that 300 verses have been revealed concerning Ali."

(5) Tabarani relates in Awsat that Ummi Salmah narrated: 'I heard the Holy Prophet say: "Ali is with Quran and Quran is with Ali, they shall not be separated until they arrive at the fountain of Kawthar in paradise." 

[Pooya/Ali Commentary 73:5] Qawlan thaqila, (weighty word) is the Quran. The Holy Prophet has used the word thaqalayn to refer to the Quran and his Ahl ul Bayt-two weighty things. Refer to page 6, and commentary of Baqarah: 2 and Ya Sin: 12.

despite these qur'anic  AND hadithic facts recorded by both the shia and sunni scholars alike -- most muslims have still turned to some man-made -- spurious ahadith for gudance as follows:

In fact, it is difficult, in spite of the Muslim "science" of Hadith to know which traditions are strong or weak! For example, Bukhari collected over 600,000 reports, but kept only 7,397 as true!

Najaf-Abadi, Ne'matullah Salehi, "Sha'n-e nozul-haye ma'jul: zamine saze tafsir-haye narava az ghor'an," Kayhan Andisheh, Qum, 1371 AHS. (the months Khordad and Tir), no. 42, pp. 41-54. (Persian)

Considers five verses from the Qur'an and the contradictory hadiths on their circumstances of revelation from the asbab al-nuzul genre. Based on an analysis of the contents of these reports, he concludes: "it has become clear that the creation of spurious reports of the circumstances of revelation must have been common among a group of unscrupulous transmitters. Based on their personal tastes, sectarian tendencies, political interests, or other motives, they fabricated and disseminated reports of the circumstances of Qur'anic revelations. -BS

Maudu'

Al-Dhahabi defines maudu' (fabricated, forged) as the term applied to a hadith, the text of which goes against the established norms of the Prophet's sayings (may Allah bless him and grant him peace), or its reporters include a liar, e.g. the forty ahadith known as Wad'aniyyah or the small collection of ahadith which was fabricated and claimed to have been reported by 'Ali al-Rida, the eighth Imam of the Ithna 'Ashari Shi'ah.78

A number of traditionists have collected fabricated ahadith separately in order to distinguish them from other ahadith; among them are Ibn al-Jauzi in al-Maudu'at, al-Jauzaqani in Kitab al-Abatil, al-Suyuti in al-La'ali al- Masnu'ah fi 'l-Ahadith al-Maudu'ah, and 'Ali al- Qari in al-Maudu'at.

Some of these ahadith were known to be spurious by the confession of their inventors. For example, Muhammad b. Sa'id al-Maslub used to say, "It is not wrong to fabricate an isnad for a sound statement."79 Another notorious inventor, 'Abd al-Karim Abu 'l-Auja, who was killed and crucified by Muhammad b. Sulaiman b. 'Ali, governor of Basrah, admitted that he had fabricated four thousand ahadith declaring lawful the prohibited and vice-versa.80

the above is self-explanatory. 

on the other hand, if we follow that divine exhortation during the holy month of ramadhan insha'allaah allah will, out of his infinite grace and mercy grant us wisdom and guide us to the truth on sirataal MUSTAQIIM--the straight path.

let us turn to a very important matter in islam.


Ba of Bismillah - The essence of the Quran  

now, how closely was/IS  hzt. ali [as] related to a muslim's faith, especially with regards to his daily performance of prayers, irrespective of his belief or disbelief in him as his imam [pbuh] or the first imam--priest of the muslim ummah -- formed by the holy prophet [sas] himself?

It is said that al Fatihah is the quintessence of the Quran, and bismillahir rahmanir rahim is the essence of al Fatihah, and the letter ba of bismillah is the embodiment of bismillahir rahmanir rahim, and the dot below the first letter ba of bismillah is the spirit of the first verse. 

Ali, son of Abu Talib, the first of the holy Imams, had said: "I am the dot below the ba of bismillah" 

which means that to Ali has been entrusted the whole of the book and its true exposition, .... The statement of Ali is testified by the well-known and universally accepted declaration (hadith) of the Holy Prophet.

having said that, how did allah guide the holy prophet [sas] and muslims throughout the islamic period with respect to the above? allow me to quote the pertinent verse again, if i may.

1: 5. thee we worship; THEE WE ASK FOR HELP. -- 5. Iyyaka naAAbudu wa-iyyaka nastaAAeenu  

what else was revealed to the holy prophet [sas] in this particular regards. here's the holy qur'an's irrevocable answer as well. please note this very carefully.

note: this further injunction begins and ends DAILY with the holy qur'an per se, vis-à-vis allah's precise and concise guidance re: the same, make no mistake about it.

says allah:

    17:77. (such was our) method in the case of those whom we sent before thee (to mankind), and thou wilt not find for our method aught of power to change.  17:78. establish worship -- SALAT at the going down of the sun until the dark of night, and (the recital of) the _q_u_r_'a_n_ at dawn. lo! (the recital of) the qur'an at dawn is ever witnessed. 17:79. and some part of the night awake for it [MEDITATION--BANDAGI], a largess for thee. it may be that thy lord will raise thee to a praised estate

17:80.    AND SAY: MY LORD! ...... WAQUL RABBI AND GIVE ME FROM THY PRESENCE A SUSTAINING POWER -- WAIJAAAL LEE MIN LADUNKA SULTANAN NASEERAN

  17:81. and say: the TRUTH hath come and falsehood hath vanished away. lo! falsehood is ever bound to vanish. 81. Waqul jaa alhaqqu wazahaqa albatilu inna albatila kana zahooqan. 17:82. and we reveal of the _q_u_r_'a_n_ that which is a healing and a mercy for believers though it increase the evil-doers in naught save ruin.

so, asking for this DIVINE help daily -- as in 'ya ali madad--o ali help' -- at that 'hour in the morning' -- was/is in fact: 

i.     part of allah's daily worship;
ii.    the holy prophet's [sas] daily practice;
iii.   the holy qur'an and islam, simultaneously.
iv.   it is allah's irrevocable command as it stands today. 
v.    it was/is the DIVINE truth.

which the holy prophet [sas] and the believers had been exhorted to follow each and every day of their lives.  hence, how relevant is this qur'anic guidance in a muslim's faith and practice today? think about it. and here's a prophetic tradition to that effect:

SEEK HELP FROM THOSE OF MY ADHERENTS

[Pooya/Ali Commentary 39:22] 

It is reported that this verse was revealed in praise
of
ALI IBN ABI TALIB. "I and Ali are from one 
and he same light", 

The Holy Prophet said: 
"SEEK HELP FROM THOSE OF MY ADHERENTS

who have enlightened hearts, for Allah has 
bestowed His grace and mercy on them. 

on the other hand, this is not an innovation in the current dispensation of islam. rather, that had been allah's way of guiding from before. 

Genesis 49:25 Even by the God of thy father, who shall help thee; and by the Almighty, who shall bless thee with blessings of heaven above,  Chronicles II 20:4 And Judah gathered themselves together, to ask help of the LORD: even out of all the cities of Judah they came to seek the LORD.

Joshua 5:14 He said, No; rather I indeed come now as captain of the host of the LORD. And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and bowed down, and said to him, What has my lord to say to his servant? 
Joshua 5:15 The captain of the LORD'S host said to Joshua, Remove your sandals from your feet, for the place where you are standing is holy. And Joshua did so. 

bhagavad gita -- purport: Chapter 1 TEXT 20:  Now both Rama and Hanuman were present on the chariot of Arjuna to help him. Lord Krishna is Rama Himself, and wherever Lord Rama is, His eternal servitor Hanuman and His eternal consort Sita, the goddess of fortune, are present. Therefore, Arjuna had no cause to fear any enemies whatsoever. And above all, the Lord of the senses, Lord Krishna, was personally present to give him direction.

and as such, what is the lesson therein? 

please think, reflect, contemplate and meditate on the above namely, *the TRUTH--al-haqqu* and then answer the following questions? 

1.    why did allah command the holy prophet [sas] and muslims to pray as above [17:77-82] and also ask  for *HIS HELP * namely, *THE POWERFUL HELPER FROM HIS PRESENCE* and NOT as per the surah al-fatihah, which is essentially a different mode of invocation -- originally prescribed by him?

2.    the help sought after at the surah al-fatihah seems to be a more direct approach as well, addressed directly to allah -- and yet elsewhere, muslims have been asked to change that approach altogether. 

3.    hence, why the DAILY DETOUR at this juncture? 

4.    how, when and where did this significant change occur  in islam per se? 

surely, this happened during its revelation and the holy prophet's [sas] mission and practice and certainly NOT AFTERWARDS. as a matter of fact, it was an intrinsic part of islam's perfection and completion of allah's favors therein [HQ: 5:3].

5.     on the other hand, what would/could have been its total impact -- both pro & con -- on the holy prophet's [sas] 23 year-old practice and mission at this juncture -- almost 3 months before the end of his mission and life on earth?

6.    so, what should be its direct consequence, integral relevance, relationship and significance to islam and a muslim's life and practice of his faith?

says allah:

15:94. So proclaim BIMAA--HE WHO --- that which thou art commanded, and withdraw from the idolaters. 15:95. Lo! We defend thee from the scoffers, 

005.067 O Messenger! Make known MAA -- HE WHO -- that which hath been revealed unto thee from thy Lord, for if thou do it not, thou wilt not have conveyed His message. Allah will protect thee from mankind. Lo! Allah guideth not the disbelieving folk.

having said that, let's turn to the matter from which arose most of the issues just cited.

rest assured, a proper study and understanding of the holy qu'ran will show that 'SIRATAAL MUSTAQIIM -- THE STRAIGHT PATH' --  is in fact attained only through 'SIRATAAL-LADHINA --THE PATH OF THOSE' and NOT otherwise. 

so, this in and of itself is not only a great mystery but also it is an all important major DAILY DETOUR beginning at surah al-fatihah itself.

7.     in other words, no one will be able to attain the siraatal mustaqiim--straight path on his/her own. 

meaning: 

each and every muslim, regardless must take this DAILY DETOUR namely, 'SIRATAL-LADHIINA'  -- as did the holy prophet and messenger of allah [sas] and all the prophets and messengers [pbuth] of allah before him. 

PROOF: 

Say: Allah speaketh truth ----- He said: The Truth is, and the Truth I speak,

'SO FOLLOW THE
RELIGION OF ABRAHAM [IMAM] -- the upright, who was no idolater'

3:95. Say: Allah speaketh truth--95. Qul sadaqa Allahu . SO FOLLOW THE RELIGION OF ABRAHAM [IMAM--priest]. He was not of the idolaters.
   16:123. And afterward We inspired thee (Muhammad, saying): FOLLOW THE RELIGION OF ABRAHAM [IMAM--priest],  the upright, who was no idolater.

6:161. say: surely, (as for) me [muhammad], my lord has guided me to the right path--SIRAATIM mustaqiim; (to) a most right religion--dinan qiyamam, the faith of Ibrahim [IMAM--priest] -- MILLATA IBRAHIIMA HANIFA, the upright, who was no idolater.

please search the holy qur'an and see why allah considered hzt. abraham [as] as an 'upright--hanif' muslim, prophet, imam and a friend of allah? surely, he [abraham] knew something that the others did not. what did he know?  insha'allaah an intellectual and faithful study of the holy qur'an will reveal that to any sincere seeker after the truth. here's some food for thought.

and finally we have:

'seek the means of approach -- WASIILATA -- unto Him' 

 5:35. O ye who believe! Do your duty to Allah, seek the means of approach unto Him, and strive in His way in order that ye may succeed. -- 35. Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo ittaqoo Allaha waibtaghoo ilayhi alwaseelata wajahidoo fee sabeelihi laAAallakum tuflihoona. 

5. 35: --  C740. Taqwa here too might be translated "fear of Allah", ..... It is in fact duty to Allah, for we are told to seek ardently the means by which we may approach Him, and that can only be done by striving with might and main for His cause. Yusuf Ali's Commentary from QuranTrans.

Wasilah is a means of access to a thing or a being. 

ALLAH selected and appointed His representatives to convey His message and laws to people and administer their affairs in every age. Please refer to pages 1 to 7, and the commentary of al Baqarah: 2 to 5, 30 to 38, 48, and 124 to know that the Holy Prophet and his Ahl ul Bayt are the only means of approach to Allah.

Thus wasilah or means of access to Allah is to faithfully follow the Holy Prophet and the holy Imams of his holy house, who have been thoroughly purified by Allah (Ahzab: 33). 

at this point, one may feel that since i am a SHIA MUSLIM and a follower of the aga khan iv, my beloved holy imam [sa] -- i am pursuing this line of  revelation, logic and thinking only. believe me, nothing could be further from the truth. 

on the contrary, my faith in my holy imam [sa] has been enhanced even more after reading the scriptures independently and objectively. 

there is an unbroken common trend between them -- and that is, THE INSTITUTION OF THE HOLY IMAMATE, the bottom line message of islam and its ultimate object and purpose of revelation. in fact, my own faith has helped me tremendously to understand these things much better.

Exodus 3:1 Now Moses kept the flock of Jethro his father in law, the priest--imam of Midian:  Exodus 28:41 And thou shalt put them upon Aaron thy brother, and his sons with him; and shalt anoint them, and consecrate them, and sanctify them, that they may minister unto me in the priest's office.  Exodus 29:9 And thou shalt gird them with girdles, Aaron and his sons, and put the bonnets on them: and the priest's office shall be theirs for a perpetual statute: and thou shalt consecrate Aaron and his sons.  

Matthew 8:4 And Jesus said to him, See that you tell no one; but go, show yourself to the priest and present the offering that Moses commanded, as a testimony to them. 

Luke 1:5 In the days of Herod, king of Judea, there was a priest named Zacharias, of the division of Abijah; and he had a wife from the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elizabeth.  

John 18:15 Simon Peter was following Jesus, and so was another disciple. Now that disciple was known to the high priest, and entered with Jesus into the court of the high priest,  

Hebrews 3:1 THEREFORE, holy brethren, partakers of a heavenly calling, consider Jesus, the Apostle and High Priest of our confession; Hebrews 4:14 Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession Hebrews 5:10 being designated by God as a high priest according to the order of Melchizedek. 

this scripture shows that imamate--kahen--preisthood had been present from the time of Melchizedek, the high priest. and then there was the aaronic priesthood which, continued right through the time of jesus and beyond. the book of hebrews was written some 110 years after jesus' mission. 

Hebrews 6:20 where Jesus has entered as a forerunner for us, having become a high priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek.

and if, the holy prophet [sas] was the promised 'prophet like unto moses' [deut. 18:18,19 & HQ. 73:15] then why should his prophethood and followers be deprived of this holy institution?

but more importantly, from the biblical viewpoint:

a.     when did 'the LORD SAY to my Lord,' as above?

b.    who was this 'my lord' besides the LORD and Melchisedec, who preceded him?

c.    note: Sit thou at my right  hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool.

this suggests one of the two things.  this conversation between the 2 Lords took place either BEFORE the latter lord's descent to earth or AFTER his ascent from earth. the major issue at hand was that he had enemies, which the former LORD promised to take care of for him.

during or AFTER this discussion, 'my Lord' was made ' a 'priest--imam' for ever after the order of Melchizedek.'

d.     but then, when did the LORD make Melchizedek the 'priest-imam' [sa] to begin with and what was the purpose or need for it then?

e.     remember: Hebrews 7:3 Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; and abideth a priest-imam continually.

f.     in other words, who was this 'eternal'  priest--imam [sa] himself?

from the qur'anic viewpoint:

WHEN AND FROM WHAT WAS THE FIRST 'NON-HUMAN' IMAM CREATED?

17:71. 17:71. (Remember) the day when We will call every people with their Imam;  [Shakir's Quran Translation --- see yusuf ali's translation as well].

17:72. But those who were blind in this -- FII HAAZIIHI, will be blind in the hereafter, and most astray from the Path. 

38:84. He said: The Truth is, and the Truth I speak, --- 84. Qala fa alhaqqu wa alhaqqa aqoolu ....

please take your time and review allah's unequivocal condition for a 'glimpse of him in the hereafter.'  you may either recognize the ever living  holy imam [sa] of the age and time in this--fii haaziihi -- [matter] or just go blind in the hereafter and further astray from the path.  there are no 2 ways about it.

note again:  Say: Allah speaketh truth ----- He said: The Truth is, and the Truth I speak.

allow me to return to our original discussion [17:79-82] after laying this groundwork for you.

therefore, was/is this a contradiction, paradox or a precise form of DIVINE GUIDANCE -- in allah's own words?

if the latter, then WHO was that 'SUSTAINING POWER & HELPER from allah's presence,' WHOM allah had EXPLICITLY 'joined unto him--bihii', his WORSHIP & DIVINE AID -- and also commanded his holy prophet and messenger [sas] and the muslims to do likewise - through the muslim 'salah-prayer,' the holy qur'an, 'nafal-prayer', meditation and invocation - all combined in that order DAILY -- until the day of judgment? this is allah's explicit command in the holy qur'an.

therefore, no muslim 'prayer or ALLAH'S WORSHIP' is or will be complete without it. please note and remember that i have clearly used the phrase  -- 'whom allah had EXPLICITLY joined 'unto him--bihii', his WORSHIP & DIVINE AID.' - see below 13:19-25 and 2:27.

there is no other way but this in the true islam, as prescribed by allah himself.

believe me, comprehension of this simple truth is very important to the basic and correct understanding and practice of islam. and what better time to reflect and act upon it than in this holy month of ramadhan, when allah's infinite grace and mercy is open to all those who ask for it and, more so during 'the holy night of qadr -- power'?

on the other hand, if allah himself commands THE MUSLIMS to do as above during the salat, meditation and du'aa -- then what is allah saying at the same time about ALI -- the purported 'SUSTAINING POWER & HELPER from allah's presence'?

kindly reflect on the above with some intelligence as exhorted in the holy qur'an.

2:154. And call not those who are slain in the way of Allah "dead." Nay, they are living, only ye perceive not. 

  038.029 (This is) a Scripture that We have revealed unto thee, 
full of blessing, that they may PONDER ITS REVELATIONS
-- aayaat, and that men of understanding may reflect.

ayat is sign

[Pooya/Ali Commentary 2:39]

The literal meaning of ayat is sign. Every verse of the Quran is a sign (ayat) because it draws the attention of the reader to its meaning. But Allah's signs, in the perfect sense, are those beings whose holy personalities draw the attention of the human beings to the glory of Allah. Every prophet of Allah, during his time, was a sign of Allah, and the Holy Prophet, the -- Imams and Bibi Fatimah are the conclusive SIGNS OF ALLAH.

  s.v. mir ahmed ali says that 'these are the greatest signs of allah,' as shown in the past. in either case the ultimate context and connotation is SINGLE!

allah guides to ali -- Silm -- submission to ali -- IMAMATE

2:207. And of mankind is he who would sell himself [his soul--nasfsa-hu], seeking the pleasure of Allah; and Allah hath compassion on (His)  bondmen.  2:208. O ye who believe! COME, ALL OF YOU, INTO SUBMISSION ; and follow not the footsteps of the devil. Lo! he is an open -- MUBIIN -- enemy for you.

2.207: -- C229. THIS SECOND TYPE OF MAN, - firm, sincere, devoted, willing to give his life for the faith that is in him - was common in early Islam. Such men were its pillars. .... That is what established Islam.

We are asked in the next verse
TO FOLLOW THIS TYPE
and shun the other or evil type.
IF WE DO THAT, OUR CAUSE IS SAFE.

9. 40: --- C1302. The Tabuk expedition was not a failure. Though some hesitated, many more joined in. But a more striking example was when the Prophet was hunted out of Makkah and performed his famous Hijrat. His enemies plotted for his life. He had already sent his followers on to Madinah. ALI HAD VOLUNTEERED TO FACE HIS ENEMIES IN HIS HOUSE. Yusuf Ali's Commentary from QuranTrans

Many attempts were made by the enemies of Allah and the Holy Prophet to kill him so as to prevent the march of Islam which was uprooting the pagan society, but Allah saved him and His religion on all occasions through His wali, Ali ibn abi Talib, who is known as yadullah (the hand of Allah).

Thalabi, Ghazali, the author of Ahya-ul Ulum, and all the Shia commentators say that this verse was revealed to praise ALI IBNA ABI TALIB, when he slept in the bed of the Holy In the dark night, the conspirators surrounded the house of the Holy Prophet. Meanwhile, Allah commanded the Holy Prophet to leave Makka at once and go to Madina. THE HOLY PROPHET INTIMATED ALI OF THE DIVINE PLAN AND ASKED HIM TO LIE DOWN ON HIS BED, in order to lead the enemies into thinking that it was the Holy Prophet himself who was sleeping, thus giving him enough time to go away from Makka (unnoticed).

[Pooya/Ali Commentary
Silm means iman, the inner core or depth of the faith. .... As reported by Ayashi, Imam Muhammad bin Ali al Baqir had also explained this verse as above and added that it also means that all Muslims are enjoined to believe in IMAMATE and follow its divine guidance after the risalat, which ended with the Holy Prophet. 

"To look at Ali is devotion"    "Looking at Ali is worship"

[Pooya/Ali Commentary 58:22] 

(x) Ibn Masud says that the Holy Prophet said: "To look at Ali is devotion."  

(xiii) Ibn Asakir on the authority of Abu Bakr records that the Holy Prophet said: "Looking at Ali is worship."

[non-ismaili source: 'ali the magnificent, by yousuf n. lalljee [a shia 12er- -ithna'ashari] pp. 251].

here's all the proof we need to this effect.  for all practical purposes, the holy qur'an comes back to this stupendous guidance and single conclusion every time, make not mistake about it. there is unity in its diversity, no matter how you look at it.

let's move beyond the current dispensation of islam and see what was revealed, preached and practiced before in this regard.

DIGRESSION

it is important to include the following in this section because some of these ithna'asharite muslim scholars have taken upon themselves to not only distort and misinterpret the message of the holy qur'an but most  unfortunately, they have also done the same with other scriptures, especially the bhagavad gita. 

rest assured, sri lord krishna's era and classic teachings -- form an intrinsic and integral part of the eternal islam and thus, the holy qur'an itself. 

that divine aayat or revelation of the sri lord krishna and his eternal teachings culminated in the true islam, as revealed in the holy qur'an.  therefore, we should not overlook the same in order to better our understanding of the islamic dispensation in its current phase.

The Yoga of the Supreme Person
The ultimate purpose of Vedic knowledge is to detach oneself from the entanglement of the material world and to understand Lord Krishna as the Supreme Personality of Godhead. One who understands Krishna's supreme identity surrenders unto Him and engages in His devotional service.

kavim puranam anusasitaram
anor aniyamsam anusmared yah
sarvasya dhataram acintya-rupam
aditya- varnam tamasah parastat 

WORD FOR WORD 
kavim -- the one who knows everything; puranam -- the oldest; anusasitaram -- the controller; anoh -- than the atom; aniyamsam -- smaller; anusmaret -- always thinks of; yah -- one who; sarvasya -- of everything; dhataram -- the maintainer; acintya -- inconceivable; rupam -- whose form; aditya-varnam -- luminous like the sun; tamasah -- to darkness; parastat -- transcendental. 

TRANSLATION 
  One should meditate upon the Supreme Person as the one who knows everything, as He who is the oldest, who is the controller, who is smaller than the smallest, who is the maintainer of everything, who is beyond all material conception, who is inconceivable, and who is always a person. He is luminous like the sun, and He is transcendental, beyond this material nature. 

PURPORT 
  The process of thinking of the Supreme is mentioned in this verse. The foremost point is that He is not impersonal or void. One cannot meditate on something impersonal or void. That is very difficult. The process of thinking of Krishna, however, is very easy and is factually stated herein. First of all, the Lord is purusa, a person -- we think of the person Rama and the person Krishna. And whether one thinks of Rama or of Krishna, what He is like is described in this verse of Bhagavad-gita. The Lord is kavi; that is, He knows past, present and future and therefore knows everything. He is the oldest personality because He is the origin of everything; everything is born out of Him.

Besides these two, there is the greatest living personality, the Supreme Soul, the imperishable Lord Himself, who has entered the three worlds and is maintaining them.

Because I am transcendental, beyond both the fallible and the infallible, and because I am the greatest, I am celebrated both in the world and in the Vedas
as that Supreme Person. 



THE SUPREME GOD -- NARAYANA, VISHNU, OR KRISHNA

   The Lord says that He incarnates Himself in every millennium. This indicates that He incarnates also in the Age of Kali. The Vedas say, nityo nityanam: God is one. Isvarah paramah krsnah. The Supreme God is one -- Krishna -- and the demigods are delegated with powers to manage this material world. These demigods are all living entities (nityanam) with different grades of material power. they cannot be equal to THE SUPREME GOD -- NARAYANA, VISHNU, OR KRISHNA. 

The material creation by the Lord of creatures (Vishnu) is a chance offered to the conditioned souls to come back home -- back to Godhead. All living entities within the material creation are conditioned by material nature because of their forgetfulness of their relationship to Vishnu, or Krishna, the Supreme Personality of Godhead. .... Therefore, the Lord of the living entities is the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Vishnu. 

The praja-pati is Lord Vishnu, and He is the Lord of all living creatures, all worlds, and all beauties, and the protector of everyone. ... The demigods are authorized supplying agents on behalf of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Vishnu. ... But for those who are in the mode of goodness, the transcendental worship of Vishnu is recommended. 

pluralism is strength 

please note that according to our holy tariqah of islam, Hzt. ALI [as] is said to be the 10TH KALKI -- PURE HOLY AVATAR, AAYAAT OR REVELATION OF THE LORD GOD VISHNU. Sri Ram and Sri Krishna were His 7th & 8th Avatars -- Revelations, respectively. every aspect of islam resonates and revolves around these important aayaats.  here is one such example:

believe in previous scripture/s

 4:136. O ye who believe! Believe in Allah and His messenger and the Scripture which He hath revealed unto His messenger, and the Scripture which He revealed aforetime. Whoso disbelieveth in Allah and His angels and His scriptures and His messengers and the Last Day, he verily hath wandered far astray

irrefutable divine association -- 
descent of the avatars  & the mass of water

     avatars of Lord Vishnu    Lord Vishnu in a fish form. 

Matsya; the Fish, is the first manifestation of Vishnu in the course of the Deluge: He saved humanity's forebears from the flood.  While Brahma was falling asleep, at the end of the Kalpa, the asura Hayagriva wanted to take advantage of the circumstances to steal from him the Vedas. But Vishnu caught the asura in the act, and to retreive the Vedas, took the form of a fish. Then Vishnu-Matsya taught the rishi (sage) Satyavrata to collect herbs, seeds and animals, to ghather toghether the seven rishis, and to wait. At the Pralaya's beginning the gigantic fish defeated the asura, restored the Vedas to Brahma;  . Matsya; RamaKrishna ; Kalaki

genesis 1:1 in the beginning god created the heaven and the earth. genesis 1:2 and the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. and the spirit of god moved upon the face of the waters. -- psalms 29:3 the voice of the lord is upon the waters: the god of glory thundereth: the lord is upon many waters. psalms 29:10 the lord sitteth upon the flood; yea, the lord sitteth king for ever. 

11:07    and he it is who created the heavens and the earth in six days - and his throne was upon the water - that he might try you, which of you is best  in conduct. yet if thou (o muhammad) sayest: lo! ye will be raised again after death! those who disbelieve will surely say: this is naught but manifest magic. -- 7. wahuwa allathee khalaqa alssamawati waal-arda fee sittati ayyamin wakana aaarshuhu aaala alma-i liyabluwakum ayyukum ahsanu aaamalan wala-in qulta innakum mabaaoothoona min baaadi almawti layaqoolanna allatheena kafaroo in hatha illa sihrun mubeenun 

what do these 3 'unrelated revelations' have in common? for some reason or the other the lord god himself had descended on earth after the creation of heavens and earth. and more importantly, for a period of time his dwelling was associated with the mass of water. 

both according to the bible and the holy qur'an, during the israelite dispensation he had revealed himself as the 'blessed fire' to moses. he also chose, spoke and guided him continually throughout his mission, during which period he also appointed aaron, his brother as his deputy--wazir and imam--priest-kohen.

so, please go beyond the words of these scriptures and look for the deeper meaning embedded therein.  like i said earlier, every aspect of islam resonates and revolves around these important  aayaats. this has nothing to do with either hinduism or reincarnation or whatever. 

rather, it has everything to do with the true islam as revealed in the holy qur'an only.

2:151. Even as We have sent unto you a messenger from among you, who reciteth unto you  :

Our revelations --  and purifies you -- ayatina wayuzakkeekum

and teacheth you the Scripture and wisdom,  and teacheth you -- maa -- that which ye knew not

now, consider the following prophecies in light of the above qur'anic exhortation only:

The EMERGENCE OF THE KALKI AVATAR

a biblical prophecy asserts that: 

judah-praise - ahmad-praise -- 
SHILOH [MESSIAH--PEACE--ISLAM]

Genesis 29:35 And she conceived again, and bare a son: and she said, Now will I praise the LORD: therefore she called his name Judah [praise-ahmad--praise]; and left bearing.Genesis Genesis 49:8 Judah, thou art he whom thy brethren shall praise [ahmad--praise]: thee -- genesis 49:9 judah [praise- ahmad -- praise]  is a lion's whelp: from the prey, my son, thou art gone up: he stooped down, he couched as a LION, and as an old lion; who shall rouse him up? 

  according to islamic tradition muhammad is none other than the mysterious SHILOH,  by whom would be transferred, ''in the latter days', the spiritual authority which until then had remained the prerogative of the jews, jesus himself having been the last prophet of the line of judah. the prophecy in question was made by jacob before his death.  

49:1 And Jacob called unto his sons, and said, Gather yourselves together, that I may tell  you that which shall befall you in the last days.  genesis 49:10 the sceptre shall not _D_E_P_A_R_T_ from judah [praise--ahmad-praise, navali], nor a lawgiver from between his feet, _U_N_T_I_L_ SHILOH [MESSIAH--PEACE--ISLAM, navali] COME; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be. Deuteronomy 33:1 And this is the blessing, wherewith Moses the man of God blessed the  children of Israel before his death. Deuteronomy 33:2 And he said, The LORD came from Sinai, and rose up from Seir unto them; he shined forth from mount Paran, and he came with ten thousands of saints: from his right hand went a fiery law for them. Habakkuk 3:3 God came from Teman, and the Holy One from mount Paran. Selah. His glory covered the heavens, and the earth was full of his praise.

 Galatians 4:22 For it is written, that Abraham had two sons, the one by a bondmaid, the other by a freewoman. Galatians 4:23 But he who was of the bondwoman was born after the flesh;  Galatians 4:24 Which things are an allegory: for these are the two covenants; the one from the mount Sinai, which gendereth to bondage, which is Agar. Galatians 4:25 For this Agar is mount Sinai in Arabia, 

Isaiah 42:8 I am the LORD: THAT IS MY NAME: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.  isaiah 42:11 let the _d_e_s_e_r_t_ and its cities lift up their voices, the villages that _K_E_D_A_R_ [DESCENDANTS OF ISHMAEL], inhabits; let the inhabitants of sela sing for joy, let them shout from the top of the mountains. isaiah 42:12 let them give glory to the lord, and declare his praise in the coastlands. isaiah 42:13 THE LORD SHALL GO FORTH AS A MIGHTY MAN, he shall stir up jealousy LIKE A MAN OF WAR: he shall cry, yea, _R_O_A_R;_ he shall prevail against his enemies.

Exodus 15:3 The LORD is a man of war: the LORD is his name. 

rest assured, this was the most fitting description of Hzt. Imam Ali (as) [The Lion Of Allah] in the bible. and more importantly, the Holy Qur'an had also depicted him in a similar context, which i have shown often in my writings previously. 

says an ithna'asharite source:

"O listeners Allah has given us (Imam Zainul Abidin /Ahle Bart) six things which no one else has. He has given us special Wisdom, Patience, Dignity, Power of speech, Courage and Respect. He gave us special benefit of belonging to the family of his Prophet. To us belong Hamza and Jafar. TO US BELONG ASADULLAH (THE LION OF ALLAH, IMAM ALI (A.S). To us belong the leader  of the youths of paradise (Imam Hassan (A.S) and Imam Husain (A.S)).

and confirms the other:

Sayyidina Ali received the title Asadullah meaning Lion of Allah. Hadrat Ali was the cousin of Prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam). Hadrat Ali was born in the Ka'ba. His father was Abu Talib. 

The Prophet called Ali to take over as a standard-bearer. In one hand, he held the banner, and in the other that favious sword Dhulfikar. Thus, Ali took over the banner which went up unfurled in his hand during the fighting which had reached its climax by that time.

ALI being awarded the following epithets exclusively for himself as none else before or after him could ever earn any one of them:

055.026 everyone that is thereon will pass away; 055.027 there remaineth but -- the face of thy _lord_--wajhu_rabbii_ka, - _lord_ of might  and glory -- zul jalali waal-ikrami 

41:53. Soon will We show them OUR REVELATIONS in the (furthest) regions (of the earth), and in their own souls, until it becomes MANIFEST to them that this--THAT HE is the Truth- - ANNAHUL HAQQ.  41:54. Ah indeed! Are they in doubt concerning the Meeting with their Lord?

In this context, would it not also be relevant to consider how, above all, it has been the Qur’anic notion of the universe as an expression of Allah’s will and creation that has inspired, in diverse Muslim communities, generations of artists, scientists and philosophers? Scientific pursuits, philosophic inquiry and artistic endeavour are all seen as the response of the faithful to the recurring call of the Qur’an to ponder the creation as a way to understand Allah's benevolent majesty. As Sura al-Baqara proclaims: ‘Wherever you turn, there is the face of Allah’.

Does not the Qur’an challenge the artist, as much as the mystic, to go beyond the physical - the outward - so as to seek to unveil that which lies at the centre but gives life to the periphery?

please go beyond the words of these scriptures and look for the deeper meaning embedded therein.  like i said earlier, every aspect of islam resonates and revolves around these important aayaats. this has nothing to do with either hinduism or reincarnation or whatever. rather, it has everything to do with the true islam as revealed in the holy qur'an only.

White Horse -- revelation 6:2 and i saw, and behold a White Horse: And He That Sat On Him Had A Bow; and a crown was given unto him: and he went forth conquering, and to conquer.

the Holy Prophet's [SAS] Horse was known as Buraq, which He rode to heavens with the Archangel Gabriel, according to Sunni hadiths--traditions. 

 Hadiths reveal that the Holy Prophet Mohammed used to arrange horse races: (Sahih Al-Bukhari HadithHadith 4.122) Narrated by Abu Ishaq from Musa bin Uqba from Mafia from Ibn Umar who said "Allah's Apostle arranged a horse race amongst the horses that had been made lean, letting them start from Al-Hafya' and their limit (distance of running) was up to Thaniyat-al-Wada'.

kindly take a couple of minutes to study and review the following as this is the  most important aspect  vis-à-vis fundamental pillar of islam, which had been ignored by most muslims to date. and that's not all.

this stupendous text as is, lends more credence to what was mentioned earlier re: the major DAILY DETOUR. 

it clearly refers to:
i.     a current;
ii.     a previous ;
iii.     and a future revelation -- i.e., 
one that was to come here_after -- [akhirati] --
as in later in time or sometime down the road

-- [see 62:2-5] -- as well, 
iv.     2 modes of guidance in islam,
which in turn, guide to these revelations, respectively:

2: 2. This is the Scripture whereof there is no doubt, a guidance unto those who ward  off (evil).  2: 3. Who believe in the Unseen--gaybi, and establish worship, and spend of that We have bestowed upon them;

which is REVEALED unto thee (Muhammad) --

 2: 5. These depend on guidance from their Lord. These are the successful. 

64:11. And whosoever believeth in Allah, HE GUIDETH HIS HEART.  --  waman yu'min biAllahi yahdi  qalbahu 

64:12. Obey Allah and obey His messenger; but if ye turn away, then the duty of Our messenger is only to PROCLAIM THE MANIFEST MUBIIN -- ALBALAGHU ALMUBEENU. 64:13. Allah is no God save HE IS. --- 13. Allahu  la  ilaha illa huwa 

correct translations:

i.    24.    'la - ilaha ill-allah'  -- 'NO god but god [allah, navali]. LA or 'NO' ....  [the secret of ana'l haqq, pp. 110]

ii.     in the same passage was also the command:     and invoke in remembrance the name of thy Lord and devote thyself unto him with an utter devotion. Lord of the East and the West; no god but he. ... him therefore take, on him place thy reliance - 73: 8- 9. [muhammad, - his life based on the earliest sources, martin lings, worship. 48 - isbn  0-04-297050-4]

iii.    73: 9. Rabbu almashriqi waalmaghribi la ilaha illa huwa  -- Lord of the East and the West; no god but He is.

so, one form of guidance to the said revelations comes from the scripture itself and the other from their lord, who guides the believer's heart. and those who are guided by their lord are successful.

and as such, please look at the DEEPER MEANING of this stupendous verse namely:

    revelation 19:11 and i saw heaven opened, and behold a WHITE HORSE; and he that sat upon him was called faithful and true, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.

Psalms 110:1 (KJV) <<A Psalm of David.>> The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool. Psalms 110:2 (KJV) The LORD shall send the rod of thy strength out of Zion: rule thou in the midst of thine enemies. Psalms 110:4 (KJV) The LORD hath sworn, and will not repent, Thou [art] a priest - kohen -- imam --  for ever after the order of Melchizedek. Psalms 110:5 (KJV) The Lord at thy right hand shall strike through kings in the day of his wrath. Psalms 110:6 (KJV) He shall judge among the heathen, he shall fill [the places] with the dead bodies; he shall wound the heads over many countries. 

for all intents and purposes, this prophecy culminated in the current dispensation of islam. and that's not all. 

the holy qur'an refers to both allah and his messenger [sas] in a more or less similar or these biblical terms as well. see 1:3; 8:17; 9:31; 58:21 and: 

22:62. That is because Allah, He is the True -- Allaha huwa alhaqqu
59:23. He is Allah WHO, no god except HE IS, the Sovereign Lord, the Holy One, Peace, the Keeper of Faith [almu'minu--the faithful], -- 23. Huwa Allahu allathee la ilaha illa huwa almaliku alquddoosu alssalamu almu'minu....

3:86. .... they bore witness that the messenger is true ---- washahidoo anna alrrasoola haqqun.  026.178 Lo! I am a faithful [amin] messenger unto you, --  81:19. That this is in truth the word of an honoured messenger [rasuulin kariim], 81:20. Mighty, established in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 81:21. (One) to be obeyed, and trustworthy [amin]; 

now muhammad had come to be known throughout mecca  as al-amin, the reliable, the trustworthy, honest ---- [muhammad, - his life based on the earliest sources, martin lings, worship. - isbn  0-04-297050-4, pp. 34]

59. 23:
C5402. (1) "The Sovereign" in our human language implies the one undisputed authority which is entitled to give commands and to receive obedience, and which in fact receives obedience; the power which enforces law and justice. (2) Human authority may be misused, but in the title "the Holy One",  (3) "Salam"  ....  (4) Ma-min --  [al-mu-minul, navali], -- one who entertains Faith, who gives Faith to others, who is never false to the Faith that others place in him: Yusuf Ali's Commentary from QuranTrans

26.107:
C3187. Amin=one to whom a trust has been given, with several shades of meaning implied: e.g., (1) worthy of trust, (2) bound to deliver his trust, as a prophet is bound to deliver his Message, (3) bound to act entirely as directed by the trust, as a prophet is bound to give only the Message of Allah, and not add anything of his own, and (4) not seeking any interest of his own. Kalki Avatar' by Professor Vedaprakash Upadhiai

One Hindu research professor, in his stunning book, claims that the description of Avatar found in the holy books of Hindu religion is in fact that of the Prophet, Muhammad (S.A.S). A little while ago, in India a fact revealing book has been published, which has been the topic of discussions and gossip all over the country. 

Amazingly the author of this book is a fair-minded famous professor, who happens to be a Hindu. His name is Pundit Vedaprakash Upadhai and the name of his fact revealing book is Kalki Avatar. The author is a Hindu Brahmin by caste of Bengali origin. He is a research scholar a seeker of the Truth and a Well known Pundit in Allahabad University. After years of research work, he published this book, and other eight pundits have endorsed and certified his points of argument as authentic.

'UNITY OF GOD'

despite the above explanation and beliefs of this hindu sect namely, 'the hare krishna movement' our shia ithna'ashari bretherens have gone out of their way to literally distort or water-down the same. they have even distorted/revised their own vacillating stand on the issue:  

Vr 37:4. [2008] the unity of god is the important message or the GREATEST TRUTH, to convey, so much emphasis has been used thru such a solemn and emphatic assertion:, for the correct faith in the unity of creator of the universe, is directly and most vitally connected with the life and destiny of the human race. [s.v. mir ahmed ali, pp. 1337]

[Pooya/Ali Commentary 37:4
The unity of Allah is the most important message of the Quran. Man has to know that he has not been created by a mere accident or as sport by any vain creative power or by any contending forces or by any purposeless mechanical process. Man must know who is his creator and master and what are His qualities and powers and His rights over His creation. 

The belief in the unity of Allah is so important and so essential for man that its significance has been frequently mentioned in the Quran. In this connection refer particularly to the introduction of al Fatihah, commentary of Fatihah: 1 to 4 and Baqarah: 255. 

these scriptural texts have been quoted under various sub-headings as follows:

s. v. mir ahmed ali pp. 73a, 74a, 1005, 1340, 1375

a.     the ancient prophets preached only the unity of god.
b.     the hindu scriptures the bhagavad gita.
c.     god [sri lord krishna, navali], is addressed(* navali) with the following words.

important note:
(* navali) apparently, the god is not addressed as such except in a dialogue by Arjuna, his devotee. sri lord krishna himself is the revealer of the episode and the book--scripture which is known as the bhagavad gita

he revealed it in the first person like so:

  I am the father of this universe, 
  I am also the Rg,
  I am the beginning
  I am the Supersoul, 

   Chapter 10, Verse 20.
I am the Self, O Gudakesa, seated in the hearts of all
creatures. I am the beginning, the middle and the end of all
beings.

unfortunately, only these ithna'asharite scholars would have us believe otherwise. this kind of distortion is also evident in their translation and commentary on the holy qur'an.

elsewhere s. v. mir ahmed ali has stated:

d.     as regards the unity of god advocated by the other scriptures [bhagavad gita, etc].
f.     as regards what the SAGES preached in india even prior to jesus -- see bhagavad gita, chapter 11:7, 11:37.

please feel free to verify the same.

regardless, their watered-down and distorted translations have been excluded for obvious reason. 

however, in order to be objective, i will quote the translation and its purport as given by the late head of the hare krishna movement:

says s.v. mir ahmed ali
as regards what the SAGES preached in india even prior to jesus -- see bhagavad gita, chapter 11:7, 11:37 

 his distortive text has been excluded for the purpose at hand. it refers to the following:

TRANSLATION 

I am the father of this universe, the mother, the support and the grandsire. I am the object of knowledge, the purifier and the syllable om. I am also the Rg, the Sama and the Yajur Vedas.  - the bhagavad gita as it is

TRANSLATION 

I am the Supersoul, O Arjuna, seated in the hearts of all living entities. I am the beginning, the middle and the end of all beings.  [compare with s.v. mir ahmed ali's rendition at pp. 1340] 

PURPORT 
In this verse Arjuna is addressed as Gudakesa, which means "one who has conquered the darkness of sleep." For those who are sleeping in the darkness of ignorance, it is not possible to understand how the Supreme Personality of Godhead manifests Himself in various ways in the material and spiritual worlds. Thus this address by Krishna to Arjuna is significant. Because Arjuna is above such darkness, the Personality of Godhead agrees to describe His various opulences. 

Krishna first informs Arjuna that He is the soul of the entire cosmic manifestation by dint of His primary expansion. Before the material creation, the Supreme Lord, by His plenary expansion, accepts the purusa incarnations, and from Him everything begins. Therefore He is atma, the soul of the mahat-tattva, the universal elements. The total material energy is not the cause of the creation; actually the Maha-Vishnu enters into the mahat-tattva, the total material energy. He is the soul. When Maha-Vishnu enters into the manifested universes, He again manifests Himself as the Supersoul in each and every entity. Similarly, the material manifestation cannot develop unless the Supreme Soul, Krishna, enters. As stated in the Subala Upanisad, prakrty-adi-sarva- bhutantar -yami sarva-sesi ca narayanah: "The Supreme Personality of Godhead is existing as the Supersoul in all manifested universes." 

Yah karanarnava-jale bhajati sma yoga-nidram: the Supreme Lord, Krishna, the cause of all causes, lies down in the cosmic ocean as Maha-Vishnu. Therefore the Supreme Personality of Godhead is the beginning of this universe, the maintainer of the universal manifestations, and the end of all energy.

in addition to the above, it is also important to note that not only did mr s. v. mir ahmed ali quote the above references with respect to the said 'unity of god,' but also -- he had drawn parallels between the two scriptures, namely the bhagavad gita and the holy qur'an like so.

however, Sri Krishna, the REVEALER OF BHAGAVAD-GITA -- WAS THE 8TH MANIFESTATION OF THE LORD GOD VISHNU, and NOT just one of the indian sages or prophets, as the said ithna'asharite author would have us believe. and although he lays great emphasis on the 'unity of god,' as shown above, he had gone out of his way to dilute and distort the same.

TRANSLATION 

O great one, greater even than Brahma, You are the original creator. Why then should they not offer their respectful obeisance's unto You? O limitless one, God of gods, refuge of the universe! You are the invincible source, the cause of all causes, transcendental to this material manifestation. 

PURPORT 
By this offering of obeisance's, Arjuna indicates that Krishna is worshipable by everyone. He is all-pervading, and He is the Soul of every soul. Arjuna is addressing Krishna as mahatma, which means that He is most magnanimous and unlimited. Ananta indicates that there is nothing which is not covered by the influence and energy of the Supreme Lord, and devesa means that He is the controller of all demigods and is above them all.

after having said the above, let us now turn to the holy qur'an in order to corroborate the same, wherever possible.

  • 'and He is the manifest--waz zahir -- and the hidden--wal baatin' -- 

  • 'And there will endure for ever the person of your Lord, the Lord of' 

  • 'I have created with My two hands'


57) Sūrat Al-Ĥadīd

Huwa Al-'Awwalu Wa Al-'Ākhiru Wa Až-Žāhiru Wa Al-Bāţinu Wa Huwa Bikulli Shay'in `Alīmun (3).

He is the First and the Last, and the MANIFEST and the Inward; and He is Knower of all things.

vr. 3. [2504] note how brief is the statement , within only four of the divine attributes of the absolute, viz., the external, THE MANIFEST and the hidden existence of the all-divine being is presented.

Kullu Man `Alayhā Fānin (26).

Everyone that is thereon will pass away;

Wa Yabqaá Wajhu Rabbika Dhū Al-Jalāli Wa Al-'Ikrāmi (27).

55:27. And there will endure for ever the person of your Lord, the Lord of glory and honor. -- Shakir's Quran Translation

   C5189. The most magnificent works of man-such as they are-are but fleeting. But the only One that will endure for ever is the "Face" of Allah. C5190. Ikram; two ideas are prominent in the word, (1) the idea of generosity, as proceeding from the person whose attribute it is, and (2) the idea of honour, as given by others to the person whose attribute it is. Both these ideas are summed up in "nobility". ..... for the single word Ikram. The same attributes recur in the last verse of this Sura. In the Fact of Allah's Eternity is the Hope of our Future. [Pooya/Ali Commentary 55:27
Aqa Mahdi Puya says: 
All things in nature will pass away at their appointed time, but the only one that will endure for ever is the "face" of Allah.

'Illā 'Iblīsa Astakbara Wa Kāna Mina Al-Kāfirīna (74).

Saving Iblis; he was scornful and became one of the disbelievers.

Qāla Yā 'Iblīsu Mā Mana`aka 'An Tasjuda Limā Khalaqtu Biyadayya 'Āstakbarta 'Am Kunta Mina Al-`Ālīna (75).

He said: O Iblis! What hindereth thee from falling prostrate before that which I have created with My 2--two hands ? Art thou too proud or art thou of the high exalted ?

vr. 38:75 [2097, 13]  
refers to the TWO aspects of the spiritual and the physical realms -- one as the MANIFESTATION OF HIS NAME AS 'AS ZAHIR'--'THE MANIFEST' and the other manifestation of his name 'al baatin' -- the hidden.  [s.v. mir ahmed ali, pp. 1373,5; 1623,4]

There are two realms, physical and spiritual, az zahir (the manifest) and al batin (the hidden), and both are the manifestation of Allah's name.

Aqa Mahdi Puya says: 
He is the first and the last, the manifest [az-zahir] and the hidden [wal-batin], the real ever-existing supreme being. These attributes in their true sense cannot be applied to any save the infinite, the absolute and the eternal. Nothing can be said about Him save negation of the ideas and concepts applicable to the created beings of composite nature. 

see how this personal opinion has been defeated by this ithna'asharite himself and a sunni muslim source quoted below. but first, see what the holy qur'an says on this matter:

But how (will it be with them) when We bring of every people a witness, and We bring thee (O  Muhammad) a witness against these? 4:42. On that day those who disbelieved and disobeyed the messenger will wish that they were level with the ground, and they can hide no fact from Allah.  

16:89. And (bethink you of) the day when We raise in every nation a witness against them of their own folk, and We bring thee (Muhammad) as a witness against these.

what does this qur'anic text say about the divine nature of the holy prophet and messenger of allah [sas]? now see what the said ithna'asharite has to say about it:

Shahid means a witness, and when ala follows shahid it means a raqib or muhaymin (a close watcher and a careful observer). 

Please refer to al-Baqarah: 143. Also refer to al-Rad: 43; al-Hud: 17; al-Nahl: 84 and 89. Allah shall bring, from among every people, a witness, and bring the Holy Prophet as a witness over those witnesses. It indicates that the Holy Prophet was present in the times of all the prophets. He is also a witness over the holy Imams. His spiritual and essential presence in all times to witness the performance of the divinely commissioned messengers and guides proves that he was fully aware of the revelations revealed to Allah's messengers and the agency which communicated the revelations, 

The Holy Prophet said: 

I existed as messenger of Allah even before the creation of Adam. 

in the following section, i will attempt to reflect upon the other meanings of the word 'zahir -- manifest -- seen--visible' or whatever. 

in my view, unless there was more to this NAME OF ALLAH viz., 'ZAHIR' -- the following would not have appeared in print in the sunni muslim world itself. their [sunnis] acrimonious opposition to the beliefs, interpretations and practice of 'esoteric' faith throughout the islamic history is a matter of common knowledge and only a click away, if you have access to the internet.

'created in the image of rahman'

Genesis 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: Genesis 1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. Genesis 9:6 Whoso sheddeth man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man.

30:30. Then set your face upright for religion in the right state-- the nature of Allah, in which  He hath ORIGINATED man. There is no altering Allah's creation. that is the right religion [Din Qaiyim], -- 30. Faaqim wajhaka lilddeeni haneefan fitrata Allahi allatee fatara alnnasa AAalayha la tabdeela likhalqi Allahi thalika alddeenu alqayyimu walakinna akthara alnnasi la yaAAlamoona

so, what is this 'nature of allah' in which he ORIGINATED 'man' -- fitrata Allahi allatee fatara alnnasa? could not 'he' be ORIGINATED of the same nature -- substance as allah himself? 

please note the difference between the 2 modes of 'creations' -- [for no better word] -- referred to above. and then, could not mankind also be created in the form of the 'ORIGINAL MAN'?  see below Genesis 5:1--3 & hadith - Volume 8, Book 74, Number 246: Narrated Abu Huraira for verification of the aforesaid.

a.    fatara--ORIGINATED -- spiritual creation.
b.    khalqi-- created -- physical creation.

the prophet added 'so whoever will enter paradise, will 
be of the shape and picture of adam.

if ' in _H_I_S_ PICTURE' refers to adam's form prior to his creation then what form or picture did adam have before his creation -- WHEN HE WAS NAUGHT? 

'the secret of ana'l-haqq

khalaq al-insana ala surat-ir rahman -- he [god] created man in the image of rahman.

god created man in his own FACE: khalaq allahu ta'ala ala suratihi --

'innallaha khalaqa adama ala suratihi' -- [hadith qudsi] 'GOD created man in HIS own image.  

'raiytu rabbi ala surat il amrad'  - says a hadith -- ' i saw my god in the form of a handsome youth.'

[pp. 73,25,50, 116 & 125  with notes and introduction by khan sahib khaja khan b.a., -- sh. muhammad ashraf, kashmiri bazar - lahore pakistan]. 

the Sufis quote a hadith: "I saw my Lord (Allah) in the form of a youth....

in view of the above facts only, i believe there's more to this concept or the name [zahir--manifest] of allah! everything else beside it -- whether, 'he is the first and the last and the hidden--BATIN'  simultaneously -- are all abstruse and foreign terms to our very limited vocabulary and underdeveloped human minds and understanding of the divine.'  

the man at best is:

Genesis 2:7 Then the LORD God formed man of dust from the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being. Genesis 3:19  Till you return to the ground, Because from it you were taken; For you are dust, And to dust you shall return.

 071.017 and allah hath caused you to grow as a growth from the earth, 071.018 and afterward he maketh you return thereto, and he will bring you forth again, a (new) forthbringing.   023.012 Verily We created man from a product of wet earth;   

21:87.  There is no god save Thee. THY HOLINESS -- Be Thou Glorified! Lo! I am of the evil doers -- minaz zaalimiin  --- 87. an la ilaha illa anta subhanaka innee kuntu mina alththalimeena

and as such, i believe that this has more to do with the 'spiritual' -- 'esoteric' -- 'sufi' islam and practice thereof. in other words, it is a matter of personal choice, commitment, individual faith and search. 

here's what i mean:

  38:71. When thy Lord said unto the angels: Lo! I am about to create a man out of mire, 
38:72. And when I have fashioned him and breathed into him of My Spirit, then fall down before him prostrate, 38:73. The angels fell down prostrate, every one,

32: 7. Who made all things good which He created, and He began the creation of man from clay; 32: 8. Then He made his seed from a draught of despised fluid; 32: 9. Then He fashioned him and breathed into him of His Spirit; and appointed for you hearing and sight and hearts. Small thanks give ye! 

although, the angels have been created from the smokeless 'fire' -- the first 'man's' creation seems extremely higher because not only did he--allah  breath into it-clay 'his/my spirit' -- thus making him the highest or 'greatest creation,' but also he commanded the angels to 'prostrate before him or unto him.' 

we may glean or surmise from these allegories as to 'who were the real objects' of 'prostration' besides allah and his spirit.

first of, each individual person prostrates 'HIS/HER FACE' to allah, regardless of his caste or creed. this in and of itself has the greatest significance in islam and the purpose of creation.

'aslama wajhahu lillahi' --- 
'surrendereth his face to allah'

  22:77. O ye who believe! Bow down and prostrate yourselves, and worship your Lord, and do good, that haply ye may prosper.
  002.149 and whencesoever thou comest forth turn THY FACE TOWARD the inviolable place of worship. lo! it is the -- AND VERILY HE IS THAT TRUTH  from thy lord. 
149. wamin haythu kharajta 
fawalli WAJHAKA shatra almasjidi alharami WA-INNAHU LALHAQQU min rabbika 

  004.125 Who is better in religion than he who SURRENDERETH HIS FACE-- -- to Allah while doing good  and followeth the RELIGION  of Abraham [IMAM], the upright? Allah chose Abraham [IMAM] for friend. -- 125. Waman ahsanu deenan mimman ASLAMA WAJHAHU lillahi  wahuwa muhsinun waittabaAAa millata ibraheema haneefan waittakhatha Allahu ibraheema khaleelan

  55:27. And there will endure for ever the FACE/person of your Lord, the Lord of glory and honor. -- Wayabqa WAJHU RABBIKA thoo aljalali waal-ikrami -- [Shakir's Quran Translation].

 

the symbol of 5-five -- 'hearing and sight and hearts'

then, we have an important  composition and an aggregation of # 5-FIVE:

i.    2 ears + 2 eyes + 1 heart = 5.  

WHY FIVE and what does it represent in islam? well, it is the great symbol of the 'noorani panj tan pak' -- the' five holy ones of light.'

and the symbol of 5-five

ii.      090.004 WE verily have created MAN in an atmosphere:
090.008 Did WE not assign unto him TWO EYES  ------   2  +
090.009 And a TONGUE and TWO LIPS, --------             3  = 5

iii.   38:75 'ibliss! What hindereth thee from falling 
prostrate before that which I have created with My two hands? 
Art thou too proud or art thou of the high exalted ones--aliin?

    iv.    41:53. Soon will We show them OUR REVELATIONS in the (furthest) regions (of the earth), and in their OWN SOULS  until it becomes manifest to them that this  - THAT HE -- is the Truth--annahu alhaqqu  --- that He is a witness over all things? annahu AAala kulli shay-in shaheedun  . ... 41:54. Ah indeed! Are they in doubt concerning the Meeting with their Lord?

hence, what was the real purpose and significance behind this man's creation and the command to angels to fall down prostrate before/UNTO HIM?  

was this 'maa--he who' -- THE DIVINE SYMBOL--AAYAT--REVELATION -- and/or knowledge thereof [2:30-34], the real object/s and purpose of creation, recognition and prostration in allah's presence then?

note: WHY DID ALLAH EMPHASIZE ON THIS POINT SO STRONGLY:  ''MAA--HE WHO --  that which I have created with _M_y_ _t_w_o_ _h_a_n_d_s_?'' 

in other words, with WHOM -- what was he identifying himself at this juncture, when he bade the angels to prostrate unto -- MAA -- [HE WHOM] -- he had just created? 

does not this command speak for itself?

38:75. He said: O Iblis! What hindereth thee from falling prostrate before MAA--HE WHO --  that which I have created with My two hands? Art thou too proud or art thou of the high exalted ones--aliin? --- 75. Qala ya ibleesu ma manaAAaka an tasjuda lima khalaqtu biyadayya astakbarta am kunta mina alAAaleena.

'alin are those who do not prostrate before Adam'

Aqa Mahdi Puya says:

As stated in Sad: 75 the Holy Prophet and his Ahl ul Bayt belong to the class of alin (the most exalted).

According to the Ahl ul Bayt vice-regency (imamah) is the most important part of the divine message.  

[Pooya/Ali Commentary 83:18]

Illiyun literally means the high places, in contrast to the sijjin in verse 7. It is a place where the record of the righteous is kept. It contains every detail of the deeds of the righteous. Those nearest to Allah will be witnesses to the records of the righteous. See commentary of Nisa: 41; Nahl: 89 and Bani Israil: 71; Bara-at: 105. On the day of judgement a witness will be called for every people and the Holy Prophet will be called as witness over all these witnesses. Whatever is recorded is witnessed by those described as muqarrabun in verse 21 and alin in verse 75 of Sad. The angels are excluded from alin because they prostrated themselves before Adam and verse 75 of Sad clearly says that alin are those who do not prostrate before Adam, because it was the knowledge of their "names" which made Adam superior to the angels. 

See commentary of Baqarah : 30 to 38. So the witnesses are the Holy Prophet, the prophets of Allah and the Imams of the Ahl ul Bayt all of whom always preached goodness and invited people to follow the right path and because of whom they came to know what was good and how to follow the right path. As the recording commenced with the creation, only those who existed right from the beginning are the witnesses nearest to Allah. As alin they existed before Adam (see above noted verses). 

[Pooya/Ali Commentary 89:27]

Aqa Mahdi Puya says:

Allah's devotee is he who reflects divine attributes in his character and desires nothing save pleasure of Allah in the life of hereafter. They are described as alin by Allah in verse 75 of Sad. They are the Holy Prophet and his Ahl ul Bayt.

"My garden"-Allah's garden is the pleasure of Allah. When a soul is admitted to Allah's garden it reflects divinity.

in other words, there were some 'aliins-- high exalted ones'  also present then -- who did not prostrate to the 'man' which allah created with his 2-two hands. rather, they too were the objects of prostration in allah's presence THEN.

the imams say that the prostration of angels to adam, was prostration before the 'light of muhammad' that was manifested in adam.'   [ 'the secret of ana'l-haqq,' pp, 86].

[Pooya/Ali Commentary 2:33] In Durr Manthur, Jalaluddin Sayuti says that the Holy Prophet had said: "The objects shown to the angels were five lights. Allah informed the angels pointing to each of the lights respectively [see details below].

therefore, might it not be a good idea to rethink about allah's creation from this 'NEW' viewpoint for a change? -- because after all -- 

'he who understood himself [his soul -- nafsahu] - understood his lord/god [rabbahu],' says the holy prophet [sas]? 'wa fi anfusikum afala tubsirun -- and he is in your nafs and you do not observe him,' says the holy qur'an [52:21] -- ['the secret of ana'l-haqq,' pp. 69,74,80,104].

51. 21: C5002. The Signs and Evidence of Allah are in all nature and within the body and soul of man, if man has but the spiritual eyes to see. Cf. xli. 53. Yusuf Ali's Commentary from QuranTrans

let us now turn to another mystical aspect of allah's divine revelation in islam namely: the noor--light.

Allah is the Light--NOOR

  24:35. Allah is the Light[1] of the heavens and the earth. The similitude of His light[2] is as a .... Light[3] upon light[4]. Allah guideth unto His light[5] whom He will. And Allah speaketh to mankind in allegories, for Allah is Knower of all things. 

again we have an aggregation of *5--FIVE LIGHTS.*

ALI'S CREATION FROM LIGHT 

ALI'S CREATION FROM LIGHT AND HIS ASSOCIATION WITH THE HOLY PROPHET

From the point of view of light, Amiru'l-Mu'minin occupied the foremost place, as many of your illustrious ulema point out. Imam Ahmad Bin Hanbal in his Musnad, Mir Seyyed Ali Hamdani Faqih Shafi'i in his Mawaddatu' l-Qurba; Ibn Maghazili Shafi'i in his Manaqib and Muhammad Bin Talha Shafi'i in Matalibu's-Su'ul Fi Manaqib-e-alu'r-Rasul narrate from the Holy Prophet that he said, "I and Ali Bin Abi Talib both were a single light in the presence of Allah 14,000 years before the creation of Adam. When Allah created Adam, he deposited that light in Adam's loins. We remained together as one light until we separated in Abu'l-Muttalib's loins. Then I was endowed with Prophethood and Ali with the caliphate."

[Pooya/Ali Commentary 2:2] 

The Holy Prophet had said: 
I and Ali are from "one and same" divine light. 

the five lights

[Pooya/Ali Commentary 2:33] 

In Durr Manthur, Jalaluddin Sayuti says that the Holy Prophet had said: "The objects shown to the angels were five lights. Allah informed the angels pointing to each of the lights respectively: 

(i) This is Muhammad, the most praised, derived from My name, the praised one. 
(ii) This is
Ali, the high, derived from My name, the highest. 
(iii) This is
Fatimah, the original, derived from my name, the originator of the heavens and the earth. 
(iv) This is
Hasan, the bountiful, derived from My name, the benefactor. 
(v) This is
Husayn, the good, derived from My name, the good in origin.

O angels! It is in love of these five that I have created the universe." 

It becomes a logical conclusion that since Allah willed these five lights of glory to be manifested through Adam, he had been appointed as the khalifa of Allah, and through these lights Allah's light had been destined to be manifested.

true, false or otherwise, the irrefutable proof is out there in the sunni hadiths as well:

The following traditions are also narrated in Bukhari. 

 9.529:
Narrated Jarir: We were sitting with the Prophet and he looked at the moon on the night of the full-moon and said, "You people will see your Lord as you see this full moon, and you will have no trouble in seeing Him, so if you can avoid missing (through sleep or business, etc.) a prayer before sunrise (Fajr) and a prayer before sunset (Asr) you must do so." (See HadithNo.529,V1
- 9.530:

Narrated Jarir bin 'Abdullah: The Prophet said, "You will definitely see your Lord with your own eyes." ------- 9.531:

Narrated Jarir: Allah's Apostle came out to us on the night of the full moon and said, "You will see your Lord on the Day of Resurrection as you see this (full moon) and you will have no difficulty in seeing Him."

allah -- vis-à-vis -- the holy prophet [sas] 

allah is raoofun raheemun
and the rasul [sas] is also raoofun raheemun

Exodus 7:1 And the LORD said unto Moses, See, I have made thee a god to Pharaoh: and Aaron thy brother shall be thy prophet.

and the tradition continues on in spite of the disbelievers.

in the islamic dispensation, Allah named his Prophet and Messenger by extracting "Muhammad" from His own name "Mahmud." Allah also gave his names "Rauf" and "Rahim" to the holy  Messenger, says the holy qur'an.      

4:80. Whoso obeys the messenger obeys allah ; 
      22:62. That is because Allah, He is the True, and because Allah, He is the High, the Great -- ALIYYUL Kabiir --  62. Thalika bi-anna Allaha huwa alhaqqu -- waanna Allaha huwa ALIYYUL Kabiir.

3:86. .... they bore witness that the messenger is true ---- washahidoo anna alrrasoola haqqun.
  8:17. Ye slew them not, but Allah slew them. And thou (Muhammad) threwest not when thou didst throw, but Allah threw,
 9:117. Allah hath turned in mercy to the Prophet, then turned He unto them in mercy. Lo! He is Full of Pity, Merciful for them --- raoofun raheemun
  9:128. There hath come unto you a messenger, (one) of yourselves, for the believers full of pity, merciful -- raoofun raheemun
   48:10. Lo! those who swear allegiance unto thee (Muhammad), swear allegiance unto Allah. The Hand of Allah is above their hands.

see how closely allah identifies himself with his messenger [sas]?  see also surah 53:1-18, which speaks of the holy prophet's [sas] spiritual and possible physical ascension, respectively.  believe me, it does not get any closer.

the 'unity of allah' in a much broader context

020.008 Allah no God except HE IS. His are the most beautiful names. 8. Allahu la ilaha illa huwa lahu al-asmao alhusna
48:29. Muhammad is the messenger of Allah -- 29. Muhammadun rasoolu Allahi
004.080 whoso obeys the messenger obeys ALLAH, 004.059 o ye who believe! obey ALLAH, _A_N_D_ obey the messenger _A_N_D_ those in authority--- 
----waolee  al-amri minkum 

please note the above verses very carefully because they are important. therein is succinctly expressed the muslim shahada and allah's tawhiid, as revealed in the holy qur'an per se. 

no muslim worth his name would EVER endeavor to 'SEVER MAA--HE WHO -- THAT WHICH'  allah had commanded to be joined unto him' -- [2:27& 13:19-25, see below].

        UNITY OF ALLAH PER SE;

3.    also, the concept of *exoteric--zahir--manifest 
&     esoteric--batin--unseen* 
4.     Is fundamentally important in islam and OUR TARIQAH. 

please read and review the above faithfully and intelligently because ALLAH himself JOINED both the risalat and imamate UNTO HIMSELF and BIDDEN muslims to do likewise. this is obvious from:

001.006     guide us the straight path;
001.007     THE PATH OF THOSE ....

002.027   those who break  the covenant of ALLAH
 after ratifying it,  AND *_S_E_V_E_R_ MAA -- HE WHO* --  THAT WHICH ALLAH  ORDERED TO BE _J_O_I_N_E_D_   UNTO HIM--BIHII,

004.150 lo! those who disbelieve in ALLAH and his messengers,
and seek to make _d_i_s_t_i_n_c_t_i_o_n_ 
between ALLAH and his messengers, --- 
4:151. Such are disbelievers in truth--haqqaa;
004.152 but those who believe in ALLAH and his messengers
and make _n_o_ _d_i_s_t_i_n_c_t_i_o_n_ between any of them; 

moreover, with the PROCLAMATION of the Holy Imamate in succession to nabuwwah--prophethood, ALLAH concluded islam like so:

HQ. 5: 3 this day have i perfected your religion for you and completed my favour unto you, and have chosen for you as religion al-islam.

simply put, not only did Allah ETERNALIZE ISLAM in this manner but also through the Holy Institution of IMAMATE -- He made IT CURRENT -- as in EVER PRESENT -- in its ETERNAL CONCEPT. 

therefore, every aspect  of the TRUE ISLAM, as revealed in the holy qur'an and our holy ismaili tariqah resonates and revolves around this 'form' of the QUR'ANIC TAWHID per se.

He is the first and the last, the manifest [az zahir] and the hidden wal batin], the real ever-existing supreme being. These attributes in their true sense cannot be applied to any save the infinite, the absolute and the eternal.

   the prophet has said: mun raani faqad ra ul-haqq -- "whoever has seen me has seen God [truth]" 

   muhammad: 'ana ahmadun bila mim' -- 'i am ahmad without the letter mim' i.e., i am ahad [god]. 

   'ana arabun bila 'ayn [i am arab without the letter 'ayn] i.e., i am rabb.

the prophet [peace be upon him] therefore said : 'i am from the light of god and all things [whole creation] are from my light --' ana min nurullahi wa kulli shayin min nuri.'

The Holy Prophet said:

"I was the prophet of Allah when Adam was yet in the (womb) of water and clay.

It was my light (nur) which Allah created before all creation."

"My light was created when Adam was not even in the process of creation.. I and Ali were created from one and the same light."

let us connect the above important message or the greatest truth namely, 'the unity of god/allah,' to following and see what we can achieve thereby:


'_M_A_A_ AMARALLAHU _B_I_H_I_I_ ANY-YUUSALA - H_E_ _W_H_O_  -- THAT WHICH ALLAH HAS _O_R_D_E_R_E_D_ TO BE _J_O_I_N_E_D_ UNTO _H_I_M_'

' Those who BREAK the Covenant of Allah after ratifying it, AND _S_E_V_E_R_ -- _M_A_A_ - _H_E_ _W_H_O_ THAT WHICH ALLAH HAS ORDERED TO BE JOINED TO HIM -- WA _Y_A_Q_T_A_U_U_N_A_ _M_A_A_   AMARALLAHU  _B_I_H_I_I_ ANY-YUUSALA - and make mischief in the earth- wa yufsiduuna fil arz; those are they who are the losers (HQ:. 2:27). '

13:20. Such as keep the pact of Allah, and break not the covenant; 13:21. Such as unite that which Allah hath commandeth should be joined UNTO HIM -- 21. Waallatheena yasiloona ma amara Allahu bihi an yoosala -- and fear their Lord, and dread a woeful reckoning;   13:25. And those who break the covenant of Allah after ratifying it, _S_E_V_E_R_ -- _M_A_A_ - _H_E_ _W_H_O_ that which Allah hath commanded should be joined UNTO HIM --wayaqtaAAoona ma amara Allahu bihi an yoosala , and make mischief in the earth: theirs is the curse and theirs the ill abode.'

 QUESTION

 So WHAT OR WHO did Allah COMMAND to be JOINED *BIHII--UNTO HIM*?

Well, the answer is also GIVEN by Allah Himself? It is *MAA--HE WHO/THAT*.

a.     What is THAT or WHO IS HE?
b.     Was it the Holy Prophet (SAS)?
c.     Or, was it Hzt. Ali (as)?

According to Allah's Revelation, the Holy Qur'an, *MAA is HIM WHOM* -- the Holy Prophet and Messenger of Allah (SAS) *_W_O_R_S_H_I_P_P_E_D*_. As such, the Holy Prophet (SAS) is not the one meant in HQ. 2:27. see above.

Moreover, at the end of His prophetic mission the Holy Prophet (SAS) was commanded to proclaim -- *Ballig Maa--HE Whom--That* -- which had been revealed unto Him from his Lord!

 Now did He reveal the Holy Qur'an all over again to His followers? It is  said that He passed away in less than 3 months thereafter. So, did He reveal it within that period in accordance with this command? If so, why did Allah Himself take 23 years to reveal it for Muslims?

005.067 O Messenger! *Ballig Maa -- Proclaim He Who -- that* which hathbeen revealed unto thee from thy Lord, for if thou do it not, thou wilt not have conveyed His message. Allah will protect thee from mankind. Lo! Allah guideth not the disbelieving folk.

Ma unzila ilaykum refers to the Quran, and ma unzila ilayka refers to that which was revealed to the Holy Prophet in the preceding verse regarding the wilayah of Ali ibn abu Talib. 
Please refer to the commentary of al Baqarah: 62. 


" Allah is my Mawla -- And of whomsoever I am the mawla (this) Ali is his mawla"


5:55. Innama waliyyukumu Allahu warasooluhu waallatheena amanoo allatheena yuqeemoona alssalata wayu/toona  alzzakata wahum rakiAAoona 5:55. verily that your Vali is Allah and His Messenger and those who believe, those who keep up prayers and pay the poor-rate while they bow.

Allah's wilayah is universal, so likewise, the wilayah of the Holy Prophet and his wali (Ali) must be so. 

The word innama makes the decision of Allah (that He, the Holy Prophet and Ali alone are the masters of the believers) final and decisive. The construction of the sentence and the word wali, used in singular for all the three, means that wilayah of all the three is essentially one in nature as well as in effect.

All the commentators unanimously hold, as Qushaji admits in the Sharh al Tajrid on the subject of IMAMATE, that this verse refers to Ali when he gave his ring to a beggar while bowing down in the course of his prayers.

(i) Abu Dawud al Tayalisi has recorded in Isti-ab on the authority of Ibn Abbas, who said: "The Holy Prophet said to Ali, 'You are the master (wali) of the faithful after me'."

Muslim has also recorded this tradition in the chapter on the 'Virtues of Ali' in his Sahih (vol. 2 p. 325) as related by Zayd ibn Arqam and transmitted through several sources. 

Ahmad ibn Hanbal has recorded the tradition related by Bara ibn Azib in his Musnad, vol. 4, p. 281, transmitted through two different sources. 

Bara says: "We were with the Messenger of Allah. "We alighted at Ghadir Khum. Congregational prayer was in order. An area under two trees was swept and cleaned for the Holy Prophet. He offered midday prayers and he grasped the hand of Ali and said: 'Do you not know that I have greater authority over the lives of the faithful than the faithful themselves?" "Yes you have," they replied. He again inquired: "'Do you not know that I have greater right to the life of every believer than the believer himself?" "Surely, you have," they answered.

Then he grasped the hand of Ali and said: "Ali is the mawla of all those of whom I am mawla. O Allah! Love him who loves him and hate him who hates him." 

Bara ibn Azib says: "Then Umar came to Ali and said: 'Congratulations to you O the son of Abu Talib. You have become the mawla (master) of all the faithful men and women." 

Nasa-i has recorded a tradition related by A-ishah bint Sad, who says that she heard her father saying that on the day of Ghadir he heard the Holy Prophet delivering a sermon while holding the hand of Ali. He praised and eulogised Allah and then he said: "O my people! I am your master." "True it is, O messenger of Allah," they responded. Then he raised the hand of Ali and said: "He is my wali, and he will repay my debts. I am a friend of him who loves him and an enemy of him who hates him."  

"O men and women! Allah is my Mawla (Lord-Master). I am the mawla of the faithfuls. I have a clear authority over their souls, And of whomsoever I am the mawla (this) Ali is his mawla. O Allah! Love him who loves Ali, hate him who hates Ali." 


At the end of this declaration the following verse was revealed: 

005.003 "This day I have perfected for you, your religion, and have completed my favour on you, and have chosen for you Islam, as religion."  (MA-IDAH: 3) 

thus far we have seen the holy prophet's [sas] true essence in islam as per the holy qur'an, the shia and sunni ahadith and the sufi literature. 

let us now review the same with regards the hzt ali [as] the first holy imam and mawla--wali of the muslim ummah found by the holy prophet [sas] himself.

'ZAHIR WAL BATIN -- MANIFEST AND HIDDEN'

NADI ALI, WHICH THE HOLY PROPHET RECITED' 

 

The Holy Prophet said:

"Ali is my brother here and in the hereafter. He is from me and I am from him. I and Ali are from the same light."  --- Refer to Sahih Bukhari, Kitab al Maghazi, vol. 3, page 41 for the saying of the Holy Prophet: "O Ali, you are from me and I am from you."

apparently, here we have 2-two interesting versions of the shia ithna'asharite rendition of one and the same prophetic hadith, which in turn, has been cited from a couple of sunni sources. so, either the sunnis have changed the connotation thereof or have the said shia ithna'asharites themselves. 

rest assured, despite their distortion or dilution -- the overall context and connotation of the hadith remains obvious.

"O ALI, thou had been HIDDEN -- [BATIN, navali] -- WITH ALL THE PROPHETS of allah preceding me, AND WITH ME THOU ARE MANIFEST - [ZAHIR, navali] - [M.S. U.B.] [#vr. 40. [1699], s.v. mir ahmed ALI, pp. 1157].


NADI ALI, WHICH THE HOLY PROPHET RECITED

it is reported by abu ishaq thalabi that abdullah bin salam asked the holy prophet to give the name of the man who had knowledge of the book and brought the queen of sheba with her throne within the twinkling of an eye.

the holy prophet said: "IT WAS ALI."

it is stated in minhaj al sadiqin and umdat al bayan -- [SUNNI HADITH]-- that then the holy prophet said to ALI:

"O ALI, YOU HELPED ALL THE PROPHETS of allah incognito -- [BATIN, navali] -- (concealed from view), and YOU HELP ME in propria persona - [ZAHIR, navali] - (in person) MANIFESTLY."

Ali ibn abi Talib is known as mazhar al aja-ib and mazhar al ghara-ib because, as willed by Allah, he used to appear in different forms to carry out divine plans under very special circumstances. These two epithets are exclusively reserved for Ali. Even today the true believers invoke Allah to send him for help (???*navali).

 the Famous Dua, Known as Nadi Ali, Which The Holy Prophet Recited, As Commanded By Allah, At Khaybar Refers To Ali As Mazhar Al Aja-Ib. Ali Ibn Abi Talib Is Also Known As Mushkil Kusha, The Remover Of Hardships. 

In every age, to many persons he comes personally to remove hardships. Through his name great spiritual achievements are attained. The Holy Prophet, and after him, Ali are acknowledged as the most superior possessors of the spiritual power

(???*navali). 'Even today the true believers invoke Allah to send him for help.'  why should the true believers invoke allah to send ali for help -- when in essence he should invoke only allah for help as per surah al-fatihah? 

so, what do we have after all is said and done? first of, according to the surah al-fatihah, help must be sought from allah only. 

however, allah also commanded the holy prophet [sas] to do as follows:

    17:80. and say: my lord! ...... waqul rabbi .... and give me from thy presence a sustaining power --- helper --  waijaaal lee min  ladunka sultanan naseeran
 004.075 our lord! ... oh, give us from thy presence a protecting friend! oh, give us from thy presence a defender! --- yaqooloona rabbana ... waijaaal lana min ladunka waliyyan waijaaal lana min ladunka naseeran

having said that, let the ISLAMIC HISTORY speak for itself. this du'aa has been in use since the infancy of islam [the Famous Dua, Known as Nadi Ali, Which The Holy Prophet Recited, As Commanded By Allah], as stated above:

Naadey Aliyyan  
Mazharal Ajayeb
Tajidahu Aunun Laka Finnwaeb
Kullu Hamin wa Gamin Sayanjali
Bi Wilayatika

Ya Ali! Ya Ali! Ya Ali!

Call aloud to Ali
Who is the epiphanic source of wonders
You shall surely find him helping in your troubles
All grief and anxiety will disappear
By Your power and Authority!
O Ali! O Ali! O Ali!  


now, if the holy prophet [sas] himself WORSHIPED ALI and also sought HIS HELP then WHO WAS ALI?

ALI 

DHAR--TIME

[Pooya/Ali Commentary  76:1]
The literal meaning of this verse is that the physical world existed long before man was ever heard of or mentioned. 

Dahr means "time from the beginning of the world to its end". 

According to the followers of the Ahl ul Bayt when it is accepted by the Muslim scholars that Ali has been crowned with surah ad Dahr (tajdar hal ata) it is obvious that the question is an assertion that at no time the world was, is and will be without the existence of Ali ibn abi Talib. 

Refer to the commentary of Bani Israil: 1 for "There is no god save Allah and Muhammad is His Prophet WITH ALI AS HIS RIGHT HAND" WRITTEN IN CELESTIAL LIGHT IN THE HEAVEN, witnessed by the Holy Prophet. 

[Pooya/Ali Commentary 17:1
The physical journey of the Holy Prophet to the arsh in the highest heaven known as mi-raj; is an unheard of wonder of the world since its beginnings and shall remain so to its end as the greatest miracle of the Almighty Lord of the worlds. Among the celestial lights, where he received from Allah order for the five daily prayers, he saw his own name together with that of Ali inscribed in the kalimah. 

"There is no god save Allah, Muhammad is His Prophet and Ali is His wali." 

In the heaven Allah showed him Ali and said: 
"O my Prophet Muhammad, I have given you Ali to be your vicegerent and successor. Peace be on you from your Lord, and His grace and His bounties." 

Then all the secrets of creation and what happened in the world since its creation and what will take place were disclosed to the Holy Prophet. The Holy Prophet said: 

"Peace from the Lord be on all the righteous servants of Allah, and peace be on all of you (O angels), and His grace and His bounties." 

When the Holy Prophet returned to Makka from his journey, before he related his experience, Ali began to give every detail of his journey, which proves that in every single step the Holy Prophet had taken during his journey Ali was with him; and this is the reason on account of which the Holy Prophet said: 

"I and Ali are of one and the same light."

do we need to say anymore on this matter when the holy qur'an, the hadith and shia/sunni commentaries have spoken thus? 

 

YA ALI MADAD -- MOWLA ALI MADAD -- SALAMUN AAALAYKUM 

6:54. And when those who believe in Our revelations come unto  thee, say: Peace be unto you--54. Wa-itha jaaka allatheena yu'minoona bi-ayatina faqul salamun AAalaykum - Your Lord hath prescribed for Himself mercy, -- kataba rabbukum AAala nafsihi alrrahmata! 

59:23. He is Allah, than Whom there is no other Allah, the Sovereign Lord, the Holy One, Peace, the Keeper of Faith [almu'minu], -- 23. Huwa Allahu allathee la ilaha illa huwa almaliku alquddoosu alssalamu almu'minu ....

6. 54: C873. .... they were honoured and were given a special salutation, which has become the characteristic salutation in Islam: "Peace be on you,"-the word peace, "salam" having special affinity with the word "Islam" In words they are given the salutation; in life they are promised Mercy by the special grace of God. note that not only was salamun AAalaykum - associated directly with, 'Our revelations--bi-ayatina'  but also the holy prophet [sas] was commanded to greet -- invoke ''SALAM--PEACE' on those who believed in THEM. 

SALAM is allah's name [59:23, 62:1] as well. this verse [6:54] further states that allah has a soul -- nafsihi.  see also 3:28,30; 5:116 & 6:12.  

if all of these qur'anic facts are true, and they are -- then what do they mean in islam and a muslim's faith and practice thereof?

in short, no matter how you look at the 'TRUE ISLAM' -- every aspect of it resonates and revolves around the revelations of allah, as seen herein.

004.086     When ye are greeted with a greeting, greet ye with a better than it or return it. Lo! Allah taketh count of all things.

024.061    But when ye enter houses, salute one  another with a greeting from Allah, blessed and sweet. Thus Allah maketh clear His revelations for you, that haply ye may understand.
