We
encourage you to take advantage of these opportunities; however,
performance in public will always be a decision made by you
and your instructor. Students are urged to take advantage of
opportunities to perform and to listen to others perform.
Studio
Workshops scheduled by faculty, encourage ease in performance,
develop a confident stage presence, broaden exposure to many
styles and build camaraderie among attendees.
Student
Recitals occur frequently, allowing for a limited concert
length and an informal, enjoyable performance experience. Family
and friends are encouraged to attend. Recitals are scheduled
monthly, refer to the calendar inside the front cover for specific
dates. Your instructor will work with you on signing up for
recitals.
The
Annual PERFORMATHON is a special "marathon" public
event at which students and faculty take turns performing recital
hours throughout the day to raise funds for the Music Academy's
Financial Aid/Scholarship Fund. PERFORMATHON 2003 is scheduled
for February 8, 2003.
April
Fool's Day Faculty Recital presented by the faculty (and
other special guests) for students, friends and family to enjoy
the fun of music! Come and see your teacher perform. You won't
want to miss this!
Community
Outreach Performances by students and faculty take place
at such venues as retirement centers, assisted living centers,
schools and other venues in the greater Greenville area.
Performance
Classes allow intermediate and advanced musicians to perform
works in progress while probing more deeply the nuances of the
art of performance. Classes explore issues of stage presence,
anxiety, memorization, projection, communication and impact.
