The MAEC Experience: Music Lessons

INDIVIDUALIZED PRIVATE MUSIC LESSONS encourage the growth of instrumental and vocal skills, both motor and aural, and basic music lliteracy. Students meet individually on a weekly basis with their teachers. Private instruction is offered for string, wind, brass and percussion instruments, piano, voice, guitar and bass guitar.

Lessons are available weekdays, evenings and Saturdays. Schedules vary by instructor. It is essential students have instruments available in their homes for practice between lessons.

Because a certain degree of physical development is essential to playing an instrument, MAEC subscribes to the following minimum ages for private lessons:

Guitar: age 5
Percussion: age 8
Piano: age 5
Strings: age 4
Voice: age 14
Wind & Brass instruments: age 7

SHARED LESSONS
Shared lessons, offered for adult or teen beginners, are an enjoyable and economical way to share a musical experience with a friend. Students provide their own partner when registering for shared lessons.

STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES
The study of music can be a joyous and rewarding experience. If offers a unique opportunity to develop one's self-expression, artistry, and discipline. In order to make a good progress, you will need to do the following:

Attend lessons regularly and be on time.
Practice every day in a quiet place. Remember that quality of practice is as important as quantity.
Keep your music and instrument in good order, and bring both to lessons.
Talk to your teacher about your goals and how to achieve them.
Attend live music performances at every opportunity. (Ask you teacher when and where they are performing.)
Enjoy yourself, and remember to take pride in being a student of music.
