4.1 The Constructive Research Method

4.1.1 Introduction to the Constructive Research Method
The Constructive Research Method (CRM) is a case study method that focuses on real world problems that feel relevant in practice (www.metodix.com/showres.dll/en/enindex 2003-06-30). In order to solve a real world problem a construction, such as a model, is innovated and this construction is thereafter implemented on the problem (www.metodix.com/showres.dll/en/enindex 2003-06-30). The CRM requires a close cooperation between the researcher and the practitioners and the empirical findings are meant to be reflected back to theory (www.metodix.com/showres.dll/en/enindex 2003-06-30). The aim of this paper is to solve a real world problem for Sunfoods. In order to do so, the Export Guide is constructed and implemented on Sunfoods problem. The Export Guide is mainly constructed in order to solve Sunfoods practical problem but it can also be claimed to give a theoretical contribution which other interest groups may draw advantage from. It is thereby possible to say that the research method of the thesis in several aspects resembles the Constructive Research Method.

4.1.2 Research Method Evaluation
One potential risk with the constructive research approach is claimed to be that the close co-operation with a company may reveal information that is delicate for the company and they may thereby be reluctant to publish the findings (www.metodix.com/showres.dll/en/enindex 2003-06-30). However, Sunfoods reactive only positively towards having the study published on the Internet. A further often occurring problem is said to be that the commitment of the target company can not be maintain (www.metodix.com/showres.dll/en/enindex 2003-06-30). However, Sunfoods was extremely helpful and supportive throughout the research project and no such problems came to surface. Another risk with the constructive research method is that the close co-operation with the target company may make it difficult to maintain a neutral and critical attitude (www.metodix.com/showres.dll/en/enindex 2003-06-30). In order to promote a critical standpoint, the research method, the sources and the Export Guide are critically evaluated. However, it is also recognised that all researchers are more or less subjective and that a perfectly neutral attitude may be impossible to achieve.
