REFLECTION ON STANDARD VI

CRITIQUES

Artifact One for Standard VI:
Review of Acceptable Use Policy

This articfact was selected to represent TF - VI.A.1 & 2.  In my course entitled, Using the Internet in Education, I was asked to look at my school districts Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) and critique it using a Rubric designed by the professor and class.  After discussing the various information that would be appropriate for an AUP,  we then used our Rubric to determine how our districts AUP measures up to the standards that we felt should be included.   This artifact fits this standard because it shows that I was able to take an AUP and determine what characteristics it should have in order to protect the rights of the school district and the safety of all students.

Artifact Two for Standard VI:
Multi-Cultural Celebration

This artifact was selected as it exhibits my students utilizing technology in order to create various projects for our 6th grade Multi-Cultural Celebration.  Each 6th grade class was assigned a different country that they were responsible for transforming their classroom into.  My class was transformed into Ireland.  Students used various authoring tools as they created presentations that included cultural menus, flags, music, points of interest, passports, and posters.  This activity allowed students to utilize technology to gain an understanding of the diverse cultures of the world.  As a culminating activity, I took photographs that I had taken throughout the duration of the project and put them into a slide show.  The presentation showed my students utilizing technology as they created their projects and the actual Multi-Cultural celebration, set to music by an Irish recording artist (The Cranberries).
