Our class worked on the Solar System while I was student teaching. We used a science kit that the school district provides. We did many lessons in class and then took a field trip to Cranbrook Institute of Science. We visited throughout the museum for awhile and then re-gathered as a group and viewed a show in the planetarium.

 

I created a unit plan on Michigan Festivals. This unit is designed to help students  know the  locations of places on a map. By doing this lesson, the students are learning names of cities and their locations. Locating the city where they go to school will also help them realize the distance between the festivals and their school city. Learning about different festivals will help them learn about different cultures and celebrations that take place around them. This unit is designed to last the entire school year, focusing on different festivals and places with in the state of Michigan.
