Competency 7

Uses communication (listening, speaking, reading, writing, viewing and visually representing) and technological skills effectively.

I read aloud often to the class as a whole and individually with students at times.

I created a sample on Kid Inspiration to show the students how to use the program. We were working on a Solar System unit and this was a good way to show the students how to help organize the information they knew about our solar system.
I took a video of the students while presenting their community projects. The children really liked this. I gave each student the choice of being taped or not. Most chose to be taped. (the big unfortunate thing is the music teacher taped over my video)
I took many digital camera pictures while student teaching. The students told me that this made them feel that what they were doing was important to me.
As a class, we talked about the activities that we saw at Cranbrook. We created a web on the dry erase board. The students then took this information and wrote about their favorite time at Cranbrook. This was a great way to get the students thinking about what they saw. They were able to think about it, talk about it, then write about it. Creating a web helped the students with starting writing in their journal, which can at times be a hard task to get started on.  We also created a thank you to all the parents who drove.
