Utilizes appropriate classroom organization and management techniques to ensure a safe and orderly environment which is conducive to learning.

This photo is the job chart that I created for the room. Each red square is a pocket that names a job, inside each pocket has an index card with a student's name on it. The job descriptions are listed below the chart so the students can read it at any time. 

 

I created a parent brochure that I sent home the first day of school. This contained information about my cooperating teacher, myself, our circuit schedule, lunch procedure, homework and other important information that the parents would be able to easily access.
When students enter the classroom, there is a set routine in the morning. I developed a lunch tag system to help the students become more independent. They then take their bell work and move over to their seat to work.

The layout of my classroom will have learning areas around the room with the desks primarily in the center. I will have all desks facing the white board to ensure that I can have eye contact with each and every student. I will cluster the desks together most of the time to encourage small group work, but may from time to time rearrange them for a whole class activity or for individual work.

I would like to have an area that we can meet as a class together on a daily basis. This area  can also double as a reading corner for times when the students may chose to read. I do not expect children to sit still in their seats at all times, throughout the day. Research indicates that children do not learn best by staying seated all day.

I am very interested in having a research center with reference books such as atlases, dictionaries, encyclopedias, almanacs, maps and globes, newspapers, informative brochures, computers, writing materials and other objects that will help the students use this area on their own.
