Rond is one of the head researchers at the Time Institute and a former colleague of Brainiac 5.1. When the Time Institute was closed by President Chu after the Legion's time travels, he continued some of his experiments at Legion headquarters until President Brande re-opened the Institute. He also helped the Legion in locating their missing team-mates after the Emerald Eye incident and siphoned the chronal energy of Lori Morning, returning her to child-hood, to create a visual communication session with the team that was stranded in the 20th century. He created a Time Platform to retrieve the team, but it was sabotaged by Lori, who was afraid that she would be returned to her own time period. He remains in contact with the team for when he can be of use.

Dr Gym'll was added to the Legion staff to relieve Brainiac 5 of the constant medical needs of the Legionnaires, thus freeing him up for his own scientific research. He's the top of his field but has a terrible bedside manner and is annoyed to no end by the Legionnaires' constant need to place themselves in danger. He has assisted in such injuries as the loss of Live Wire's arm, Star Boy's fluctuating powers, Dirk Morgna's recovery, Magno's loss of powers, Spark's power change and Ferro's desire for surgery to repair his facial deformities.
