The Emerald Eye of Ekron is an extremely powerful sentient creature that desires a host as an outlet for its power. The Eye has existed at least as far back as the 20th century when it was recorded as having been involved with L.E.G.I.O.N. and had previously been controlled by Mordru, but its origins are a mystery. The Eye later bonded with Shrinking Violet and eventually turned her against the Legion before an explosion seemingly killed several of her team-mates and she fled in shame. After a period of wandering space, the Eye and Violet were tracked down by Mordru in his quest to reclaim the Eye's power to aid in conquering the galaxy. After a brief battle, the Eye and Violet merged and were going to join with Mordru to become invincible but Violet was able to rebel against Mordru and the Eye with the help of Mysa, Kinetix and Sensor. She then convinced the Eye to flee rather than be controlled by Mordru. The Emerald Eye has now bonded with the Empress as a member of the Fatal 5, but was blinded by Element Lad, at least temporarily.
The Eye has a variety of mystical abilities. It can generate powerful force blasts, transform objects and people, and teleport, to name a few. |
