Brainy (as he is affectionately called by his team-mates) was brought into the Legion with the UP draft. His ascendants include Brainiac - the enemy of Superman, Vril Dox -the founder of L.E.G.I.O.N. and Brainiac 4 -his mother, who led the Dark Circle and tried to murder him. He is the team's resident scientist, having created an anti-lead serum for both M'Onel and Andromeda and he accidently created the metal which Invisible Kid used to make the Legion flight rings. After exposure to a spatial anomaly, Brainy's technological force-field belt was internalized within his body. He has a unique friendship with Gates and previously had a pet monkey named Koko. At one time he had a romantic infatuation towards Andromeda.
Brainy has a 12th level intellect, which is double that of the universal average. Due to exposure to a spatial anomaly, he also has the ability to create force fields at will.
