Pernisius is a ruthless land baron on the planet Rimbor, owning almost half of the planet's land mass but wanting more and more power. After the explosive shattering of the Rock of Eternity, Pernisius' aide, Dr Deacon, exposed him to the effects of the Eternium fragments which gave him incredible power. As he was becoming powerful enough to actually pose a threat to the entire universe, Thunder and the Legion confronted him and were only able to defeat him once they, themselves were exposed to the power of the Eternium. Dr Deacon was revealed to be a robot sent by the terrorists who destroyed the Rock of Eternity and Pernisius was imprisoned.

Brainiac 4 is the mother of Querl Dox, the Legion-naire Brainiac 5.1. Most of her life was spent without any emotion or feeling. The birth of a child failed to awaken any feeling within her but it did allow her to leave Colu and she traveled the galaxy in several different guises trying in vain to feel anything. She became leader of the Dark Circle and was finally able to elicit an emotion when she sent the Affiliated Planet's fleet to its destruction above the world of Durla. After murdering the other members of the Dark Circle council she lured her son to Colu and attempted to kill him in an attempt to experience more emotion and would have succeeded if not for the arrival of Gates, Live Wire and Spark which led to her capture.
