Andrew and his twin brother, Douglas, were born with facial deformities and the mutant ability to transform their body into iron. He met the Legion-naires in the 20th century during the Final Night crisis, in which he almost sacrificed his life to defeat the Sun-Eater, but was saved by Parallax (Hal Jordan). Following his brother's death, Andrew joined the Legionnaires and accompanied them to the 30th century.
Andrew has the mutant ability to transform his body into iron and still retain his mobility, but with enhanced strength and limited invulnerability.
During the year that half of the Legion was "Lost" in uncharted space, Andrew accompanied Karate Kid to the remote planet Steeple. He is in a coma as a result of being grieviously injured and may be trapped on Steeple for a ten year period in which the planet is isolated. |
