Why Japan | Sophia University | Fiance Your Trip to Japan | Culture Shock! | Learn Japanese |

Tipping
In Japan one does not have to tip, ANYBODY (one expection). If you leave money on the table in a restuarant, the staff will more than likely think that you forgot it. Large hotels and resturants will add a 10% service charge to your bill, but most eateries do not. When people stay at an expensive Japanese inn, giving 1000yen or 2000yen to the room attendant. It's put in a small envelope and presented surreptitiously.
