Taxes
Japan has a 5% consumption tax added to the price of all goods and services. Some things such as taxi fare and newspapers the tax is included in the price. Most items the tax is rung up at the cashier register. In a restuarant if your meal is over 7500yen per person, an additional tax of 3% is added. If your accomodations are over 15,000yen per person per night, there is an additional 3% local tax.
