Delivery Services
Takkyubin is Japan's private package delivery service where items are shipped from one part of Japan to another expediently. The cost of sending items depends mostly on weight, but it is usually between 1000yen and 2000yen. Most Japanese when they are going on vacation ship their items to their destination ahead of time, so they can travel light.

The big internation courier services are

United Parcel Service, Tel (03)3639-5441

Federal Express, Tel. toll free 0120-003-200

DHL, Tel (03)5479-2580

EMS is Japan's post office's international express mail. Although it is less expensive than the courier services I mentioned above, it does not guarantee a delivery date.
