Ship Biscuits Look to Repeat a Successful 2005 season in 2006 The Ship Biscuits are riding high after their best season in franchise history. They finished the year with a (24-18) record and made their first ever playoff appearance. Despite an abrupt ending to the season in the first round of the playoffs to the hands of the Agitators the team looked impressive, and made a huge turnaround from their (15-27) record in the previous season. The Ship Biscuits will have a slightly different look next year after losing to of their most recognizable faces to the expansion draft, Lance Berkman and Livan Hernandez. It will shape up as a team with some young talent including the young phenom Chase Utley at second base. The team will rely heavily on Ichiro Suzuki at the top of the order followed by one of the best shortstops in the league Michael Young. They will also need to have a great year out of their ace pitcher Chris Carpenter. The Ship Biscuits will have the seventh overall pick in the 2006 draft, they will be looking to add depth to their starting pitching, as well a looking to add a couple of good sluggers into the middle of the order, an area in which they have struggled in the past. Look for the Ship Biscuits to be an O.K. team that will certainly have a chance to compete for the Jackson Weite League Eastern Division title in 2006. |
