Fisterbottoms Capture Their Second Jackson Cup in 2005

The 2005 season has concluded, and the Fisterbottoms have taken home with them their second Jackson Cup title in three years. After a great regular season in which they finished tied for first with the Agiators they entered the playoffs playing some of their best baseball of the season. They were able to narrowly beat the Snappers in the first round of the playoffs as the series extended all the way to a deciding fifth game. Meanwhile in the first round the Agitators were manhandling the Ship Biscuits, eventually beating them in four games. This would set the Fisterbottoms up with a match against their rivals in the Jackson Cup Finals Series. It was a fantastic series that went all the way to a deciding game seven, with many nailbiters along the way. In the series finally the Fisterbottoms prevailed 4-2, off of a clutch 3 run home run by young catcher Victor Martinez. Their playoff success was marked by the excellent performances of Firstmaseman Albert Pujols, along with Centerfielder Jim Edmonds, and great pitching by Johan Santana. The 2006 season will have a lot of work to match the excitement of the 2005.
