Agitators Looking to Make it Back to Finals in 2006 After making their first Jackson Cup Finals appearance in 2005, the Agitators are prepared to make an effort to get back to the finals and win their first Jackson Cup. The Agitators finished the regular season tied for first with the Fisterbottoms with a (26-16) record. They easily took care of the Ship Biscuits in the first round of the playoffs beating them in four games. This set up a classic Jackson Cup Finals matchup, in which they came very close to knocking off the Fisterbottoms and winning their first ever Jackson Cup. They pushed the series all the way to a game seven, but were then unable to prevail. The Agitators 2006 roster will look similar to years past, but there will be some changes. One huge change, the team will be without the prescence of their all star outfielder Barry Bonds, who will miss the year due to injury. It looks as though they will call upon youngster Jason Bay to fill the void in the lineup caused by Bonds' absence. The lineup looks to be an explosive one, they are returning key sluggers Aramis Ramirez, Manny Ramirez, Todd Helton, and Ken Griffey Jr., who combined with the pitching of Roy Halladay and Carlos Zambrano should make the Agitators a tough 2006 team. The Agitators will have the eighth selection in the upcoming draft, they will be looking to add a starting pitcher, and then filling out their offensive arsenal with as much talent as possible. The Agitators should be in a dogfight all season competing against the Fisterbottoms in the Western Division. They should be a strong contender, not only in their division, but also for the Jackson Cup. |
