Seems like every post this month has got to do with university
and GPA or enlistment. Top 3 questions that I get the most and
sick of them, so I shall answer them here in a FAQ.
Q: When are you enlisted?
A: I dunno, have not got any enlistment letter yet.
Q: Done your medical checkup? Did you pass your napfa?
A: Yes I've done the checkup, Pes B because I'm underweight. Yes
I've passed my napfa, thank you.
Q: So what are you doing now?
A: I'm currently working at Discovery Channel doing my
internship. Under programming department, nothing to do with
Java. In general, it deals with buying and distribution of
programs, ratings&viewerships, scheduling of programs and
censorship.
Q: So what do you intend to study after this?
A: 99.9% NTU mass comm. If can get scholarship then maybe Univ
of Melbourne? Not sure.
Q: Do you know that Xu Wei Lun died?
A: @#$^(*#()$%& STOP TELLING ME ABOUT HER! Heard about her 5x
le, i dunno who she is.
I miss studying, can't
wait to finish NS and get back to uni studies. Decided to self
study A lvl econs on my way to work n back, nothing better to do
on the long bus ride. Currently trying to digest all the graphs
about LRAC and TAC and TVC (to my frens in MS0401, TVC here
doesn't mean television commercials but total variable cost).
The learning curve at work is quite gradual, maybe due to
internal disEos. Muz thank Sharon for lending me her notes and
answering all my weird questions. O, we went to eat Beef Hor Fun
at geylang, the food rox~! Hopefully I can finish Econs and
Stats before I go NS, then when I come out can refresh and be
ready for uni. at least wont be a blur sotong. NTU mass comm has
190 students, only abt 20+ is poly ba. muz bridge the gap and
disadvantage esp wif the hideous O lvl result. haix

Today I read on the papers, about the pathetic scholarship
opportunities offered to Poly students and how unfair it is.
Some don't even bother to put poly criteria, it's the 4A2S
criteria. I oso dunno how I can get any scholarship onot, very
dim chance against the 4A2Ses. Who has ever heard of PSC
Scholarship given to a poly student?! Wake up to the real world,
life is unfair. but nothing is stopping miracles from happening.

This weekend I went for the various varsities open houses.
Mainly Australian Unis and NTU... the Australian one I went with
KK and queued for almost an hour to find out about Monash U.
freakin crowded! but their requirements are just 2.5... sounds a
little too easy to get in. KK found out about this sports
management course which is really interesting. I met Brandon
Ho.. who's intending to study tourism and the lady from Blue
Mountains Hotel School a bit...dubious. She showed us all the
brochures, says how the school is linked with Swiss and the
'Orion Schools of Hotel' and Brandon can study one year in Aus,
one in China and one year in Swiss. While Brandon was
considering about how fast is the application and interview,
that lady immediately said "Oh I can give you an interview now,
it'll take only 10 minutes. You want fast I give you fast." 0.o
STUNNED! I reserved all emotions and comments but Brandon was
like "Huh, like that also got!" hahaha. The whole sales pitch
was like selling dish washer liddat, sooo dubious! maybe the
school dun exist and cannot even be found online.lolx~ couldn't
stop laughing on the way home.
For me, I applied for
Univ of Melbourne, which the advisor says I should be able to
get in but not sure about advance standing. The minimum
requirements is 3.7 GPA wor~ kong bu... NTU only require 3.5
whereas Monash and RMIT only require 3.2. So jiu... applied for
Melbourne, Monash and going for NTU as well, shall see how it
goes. it's really giving me a headache~

Been so long since I've blogged. This is the first post for the
new year, happy birthday to my brother and my other brother
Justin. Both of them same year, but one is 10th Jan, another one
is 11th Jan which makes it kinda confusing sometimes haha. So
far at Discovery still quite ok, although many a times they
dunno what other work to give me and constantly have to wait for
work, quite unusual right, but im changing to be under another
supervisor who's in charge of the whole China region so i hope
it's good. I spent a great time with Siree and Daniel when Siree
came to sg, but was so busy i missed meeting lala. poor lala~
After I came back from
the trip, i've like totally changed as a person both in good and
bad. the reality of NS is setting in and choosing a uni is a
huge headache, so they have taken priority over CCAs and other
things in life. it's kind of stressful, today my deputy director
told me its better to study NTU than foreign because quality is
an issue. n im oso trying to run and make sure i wont suffer in
ns ... yea kena Pes B bcos 3kg underweight. and the stupid
aptitude test which has A level physics (projectile motion, AC
DC current), SATS english test and math component. life is
unfair~ so at most jus burn n toast in hell during ns lo. this
phase of transition and choosing where to go next is always sooo
painful~ 3 yrs ago at VJ was exactly the same... thinking poly
or jc. now the uni is oso the same~ haix.
Tomorrow will be my
last day in CO le, dun foresee myself going to australia bcos of
NS. It seems only yesterday when I joined nypco, and only not so
long ago I watched BKPS military band and decided to join,
drawing my treble clefs at theory lessons in primary 2. So fast,
it's been 12 years...out of 20 yrs of my life, i've been in
performing arts band and CO. 12 yrs of eca/cca coming to an end
and the last song happens to be I feel Good. eek. worse still,
the first CO song I played is Matsuri and now still playing
Matsuri.
The concert tomorrow, i
really cannot focus. Even on esplanade and rehearsals these few
days, my mind is still on NS and Uni. that's almost everything i
ever think of these days, bugging me real hard. even while
playing i oso cannot stop thinking, add to the fact that im busy
and can't turn up for prac, im not really enjoying this concert
la. thanks for all the concerns about why i dun turn up... i was
out wif Janette for inter-poly debates. i din say was becos i
had HOPED that people would have a little faith in me that i'll
still be committed to CO, n dun wan the yr1s to say 'how come
the ex-vp can join another cca n miss out practise'. but it
seems that not many ppl have that little faith.
