黃作梅(1916-1955年)生於新界上水,祖籍廣東番禺。這位皇仁書院的高材生在1941年加入中國共產黨,隨後參加東江縱隊。他曾任國際工作小組組長,參與香港秘密大營救,并以東縱聯絡處首席翻譯官的身分,參與東縱和盟軍的軍事情報合作;日本投降後,任東縱駐港辦事處主任。1949年8月,黃作梅出任新華社香港分社社長,但於1955年4月在“克什米爾公主號案件”中犧牲。在短暫的38年歲月中,黃作梅為祖國奉獻了所有的忠誠。 Abstract: Born in Sheung Shui, New Territories, Raymond Wong Chok-mui(1916-1955), whose ancestral home was in Panyu, Guangdong province, was a brilliant graduate of Queen's College. After becoming a member of the Communist Party of China in l941, he joined the East River Column later. He was once the head of the international work group, taking part in the large-scale secret rescue operation in Hong Kong. As the chief translator of the liaison office of the East River Column, he was involved in military intelligence cooperation with the Allies. After Japan's surrender, he was appointed director of the Hong Kong office of the Column, and later in August l949, director of the Xinhua News Agency (Hong Kong Branch). In April 1955, he died in the "Kashmir Princess incident". In a short span of only 38 years, he had devoted all his loyalty to the motherland.
