Cathedral at Salzburg
The cathedral was built between 1614-1655 – constructed of light coloured
Salzburg marble. The pediment, flanked by two symmetrical towers,
is dominated by the statue of Christ, who is flanked by Moses and Elijah.
In front of the Cathedral, at the center of Domplatz, is a statue dedicated
to the Immaculate Conception. In front of the main doors of the Cathedral
are four Evangelists: St. Rupert, St. Virgil, St. Peter (below), and St.
Paul. Mozart was baptized here in 1756 in the Romanesque baptismal
font.

Abbey Courtyard in the District of St. Peter
Salzburg
The courtyard now looks as it did after its reconstruction by Abbot
Edmund Sinhuber in 1688. In the center of the courtyard stands St.
Peter’s Fountain, designed by Bartholomew Opstal in 1673. On the
north side of the Cathedral, overlooking the courtyard, stands the Prince-Archbishop’s
Residence.

Chapel of the Cross
St. Peter's Churchyard, Salzburg
The present layout of the churchyard dates from 1627. It is the
oldest Salzburg cemetery still in use. Opposite the catacombs is
the Romanesque Chapel of the Cross, dating from 1170. In 1614, it
was converted by Konrad Asper into a mausoleum for Prior Anton, Graf von
Lodron. Embedded in the side of Hohensalzburg is St. Maximus Chapel.
