Final fantasy eight is a great game if you like long role playing games.
The story is similar to final fantasy 7 in that you are a mercenary for hire, who eventually has to save the world from destruction.
The main differences between this and Final Fantasy 7 is the great new graphics, a slightly different fighting engine and a story line that is to be quite honest a hell of a lot harder to follow.
The fighting in this game is set up in a turn based system where you chose the fight commands from a menu. You can simply attack with your weapon, use magic or even summon demons to take on your opponents.
You can collect various items throughout the game to improve your armor, weapons and spells.
One of the biggest differences with this game is that you find your self playing the part of different characters at certain points in the game. This can get a bit confusing at some points as you seem to go back in time.
Overall it is an interesting game, but I think that many people would agree with me that FFVII was a lot easier to follow and understand.
So I would recommend playing FFVII first, after all it is now available in platinum.
