History Of
CCAA BASKETBALL
Below are listed the CCAA National Championship Teams. This is the History of the CCAA Basketball Tradition and it’s heritage. Although it goes back deep in roots to a board game by Cadaco with metal flickers and a ping-pong ball, the CCAA began in 2000. It does however trace it’s roots back to this beginning.

You may note that not all of the Conference
Champions made the CCAA Tournament. The reason for that is that they did not go
on to win the Conference Tournament to qualify for the tournament and were not
selected by the computer to be admitted. Note: The PlayStation 2
computer chooses the teams admitted into the Big Dance, not the CCAA or it’s
chairperson or commissioner. The selection committee is solely the Game System
Computer’s selections.

You may note that not all of the Conference Champions made the CCAA Tournament. The reason for that is that they did not go on to win the Conference Tournament to qualify for the tournament and were not selected by the computer to be admitted. Note: The PlayStation 2 computer chooses the teams admitted into the Big Dance, not the CCAA or it’s chair person or commissioner, ONLY THE PS-2 GAME SYSTEM COMPUTER, WHICH IS THE SOLE SELECTION COMMITTEE!!!

The final Top 25 are the PS-2 COACHES POLL used to
determine our Champion! No Human Input is determined in the final polls, it is
all the PS-2 computer game system that determines the CCAA National Champion
through the CCAA Tournament and it then concludes with it’s final CCAA coach’s
poll in which it alone is solely responsible for. There is no human input into
it other than games won or lost by human coaches.
2005-2006 CCAA
Basketball Season
The Miami of Florida Hurricanes won the Cyber Championship
of College Basketball Monday April 3rd
of 2006 by defeating Utah in a tough battle 85-79. It came down to who could
hit the free ones from the line, and Miami edged out in that category. In the
final 4 game they took out BYU 72-70 and once again their ability to shoot well
from the line won them the game as BYU also shot well, 100% from the line! They
just couldn’t hang on for the win. In the “C” bracket they took out Maryland
86-58 to make it to the final 4. It was clear they were on a mission! They took
out UCLA 82-64 and before that Weber State, by the score of 96-64. In the first
round at a 1 seed they took out the 16 seed Western Kentucky 71-59 which scared
the Hurricanes as the Western Kentucky team hung within 1 until the 2:02 mark
when Miami finally started to pull away a bit. Congratulations to the
University of Miami Hurricanes for their National Title in CCAA Basketball in
the 2005-06 Season.
2004-2005 CCAA
Basketball Season
The Kentucky Wildcats had a long rough 6 games to win the championship as they snuck by The Mighty Utah Utes 97-96 after crushing Chicago State 79-36. Then they took out Gonzaga 86-79 to go on to face UCLA where they won again 74-68 in a close game decided in the last minute of play. That moved them into the final 4 where they took out North Carolina 92-82 pulling away with under 2 minutes to play before they were fouled and sent to the line giving them the 10 point cushion that vaulted them into the championship game against Connecticut where they won in a last second jump shot 67-66 to take the championship of the CCAA and proclaim themselves National CCAA Basketball Champions for 2005-05 Season!
2003-2004 CCAA
Basketball Season
The Utah Utes Under Coach Bryan Ewell had a dominating season and proved
beyond any doubt they were one of the greatest of all time CCAA College Teams
in their quest for the CCAA Championship in surprising dominating fashion as
they crushed the competition in the Mountain West Tournament and then in the
CCAA Tournament having only one close game against Wilson State, in which they
pulled away convincingly about half way through the second half. They were
fantastic as they showed they were and are possibly the most dominating team in
CCAA Basketball History! It was an amazing season for the Utah Ute’s who will
long be remembered for their run gun and slam in your face with tough defense
and blocks galore and stuffs in the face buckle down style of defense as they
dominated the whole year. It can be argued they were a one year wonder that may
well have been the Greatest Team In Cyber College Basketball History!
2002-2003 CCAA
Basketball Season
The BYU Cougars Under Coach Keith Wilson Won their third straight championship in CCAA Basketball In The CCAA’s Third Year Of Organized Basketball. Their 4 sophomores and 1 Junior Starters just picked up where they left off last season and crushed the competition. There was a bracket which has been lost. They defeated Syracuse to win the National title. We do not have the final 4 list of schools. We apologize for this.
2001-2002 CCAA
Basketball Season
The BYU Cougars Under Coach Keith Wilson finish the Season as National
Champions as the winner of March Madness for the second consecutive year. Their
fab 5 are astounding at 3 point shooting. The 4 freshman and one Sophomore
Center are overpowering as an offensive unit and just unstoppable. It will take
some awesome recruiting skills to keep BYU at this level on the long term!
2000-2001 CCAA
Basketball Season
The first year of the CCAA basketball tournament and organized College Cyber Athletic Association Basketball saw a BYU team really do the things it needed to do to make the Big Dance. When it got there it went nuts and just went hog wild and became unbeatable all the sudden after going about 75% during the season. Most of the team was graduating and coach Wilson would have to start over next year, But the BYU Cougars came right through to win the games it took to get to final 4 and win the last 2 games to take the National Championship by winning the Final 4 tournament in April! Congratulations to coach Keith J. Wilson and the BYU Cougars who win the first National Title in the CCAA Basketball Tournament.
Early Traces Of
The CCAA Tournament
Early traces of Basketball in family tradition can be
traced to the early 80’s and the 70’s. Where one Christmas Keith received a
board game called “Basket” by Codaco. A game with levers on it that shot a
ping-pong ball from holes in a cardboard gym floor with holes in it with metal
catapults on springs that would catapult the ball toward baskets held up by the
game box and the gym floor. The game was about 20 inches long by 10 inches wide
looking like a basketball court. It was a fun game for the whole family as well
as other friends. There were tournaments held, especially during March Madness
determining a “Champion” much like today’s CCAA does in the video version of
the League we have known as the CCAA basketball league. Enjoy the CCAA and it’s
routes. Although the CCAA Basketball Tournament and Conferences are younger
than the other leagues, it’s history runs deep.
