Pike


The natural habitat of the pike (Esox lucius) is rivers, lakes, reservoirs and ponds. It is caught by live baiting with most coarse fish, including its own species; dead-baiting with these or with herring, sprats or mackerel; and on all types of spinners and plugs.

Streamlined, powerful but graceful, the pike is the supreme predator in out rivers, and streams because of the size that it can grow to. It leads a solitary life, lying in  ambush to dart out and feed on small shoal fish-species such as roach, rudd, and bream.
