It's not easy to get by
When something else is on your mind
The river does no larger flow
It's covered with ice
Some desperate eyes notice
That it hasn't snowed
But they all hear:
"Xmas has come"
Though you have gone
I watch a fire
Perhaps it is my heart
Burning of desire
And tearing apart
Is it really you?
There's nothing I can do
To hide away my tears
If you could be near...
Xmas has come
But you have gone
Look at the people holding hands
They don't really understand
That I would like to be like that
Some people say, as they stare
"You're pretty young
to write melancholic songs"
Well, don't listen if you don't care
But Xmas has come
And you have gone
Lots of things I received
And as I listen to him
I can catch the words:
"Silence like a cancer grows"
I think to myself
When I leave the video on the shelf
"I'm a Romatic poet
Let everybody know it
I wish I could be like you
Saying what you want to.
Paul Simon
You're my poet idol"
Xmas is the time of
Happiness, presents and sweets
But also hypocresy, selfishness and greed
"Help the poor child"
"Why should I?"
We're living in a material world
But, come along
Gather around
And we'll be able to talk
About the important things:
Friendship, love and peace
Because Xmas has come
Although you have gone
And I miss you so...
