Jack shows the Mormons a thing or two about evangelism. I don’t know if everything he says about them is really true, but nothing would surprise me! Actually this has cleared up a minor mystery for me. In countries other than the US, we’re often descended upon by Mormon missionaries, invariably with Yankee accents - I’ve always wondered if US citizens were subject to the same sort of harassment, and if so, were they foreign missionaries. Apparently not....

You don’t have to set your dog onto the Mormons – just read them a Chick Tract!
C'mon, It's as easy as that; what are you waiting for?

SYNOPSIS: Fran Palmer is dead against her niece Janice going to Africa as a nurse for some kind of (unspecified) mission work, but Janice is apparently unshakeable in her resolve. Presumably her departure is imminent and she’s just staying one last night there before leaving, because she asks Aunt Fran if she has anything new or interesting to tell her Mom about.

Indeedy, yes! Aunt Fran has met some wonderful people who have been very kind to her when she was having trouble, and in fact, they should be calling on her that very evening . Needless to say, they’re - gasp - Mormons, but Janice soon sorts them out, thanks to the ready-made enlightening material put out by Chick Publications! (She’s obviously done this before).

In true Chick "Evangelo-Porn" fashion, Elder Tanner is no match for Janice's constant barrage of unassailable "facts". He becomes badly confused and eventually has to be dragged away by Elder Grant before she inflicts any more damage. Meanwhile, (as per the last few panels of most Chick comics) a routine quick kneel, a few quick words to J.C. and Aunt Fran is spared the fires of Hell! Just like that...

ARTWORK: Once again, obviously the work of a professional comic book illustrator. Unfortunately, it does suffer the excessive "talking head" problem of a lot of Chick’s comics, but the illustrator has done the best he/she could have with the script available. The lettering is obviously computer generated, which never really cuts it for me.

MEMORABLE POINTS: Well, there’s really only one, and it may not mean anything at all to most people. In many English-speaking countries, the term "Mrs Palmer" is often used as a coarse euphemism for male masturbation eg: "I’ve got a date with Mrs Palmer (and her five daughters)". In England they often use the alternative expression: "Madam Palm"; I don’t know whether similar expressions are used in North America. Anyway, it’s not uncommon for creative people to "innocently" choose the name "Mrs Palmer" for characters in TV shows, commercials etc. Thus I was amused when the Mormons’ opening line was: "Good evening Mrs Palmer"!

I’ve also noticed that in most Chick comics, it’s nearly always the blonde girls who are the good lassies, while it’s often the blonde guys who are the undesirable ones. A bit of rampart follicle-ism there!
