Once again, while I understand the story well enough, I'm not sure what is the point of publishing it. What conclusion are we supposed to draw from this?

Since we're all about to die....

Don’t they ever learn?
Never ever trust a man who wears a turtleneck with a sports coat!

SYNOPSIS: Impressionable young lad (we never learn his name) witnesses his friend Bobby die from an overdose of speed. (Do people normally die from that? - Chick seems to think so). A kindly old man engages the lad in conversation and ruminates over where Bobby is going to spend eternity. (‘Course we all know where he’s going, don’t we kiddies...).

Kid’s turtleneck-wearing older (boy?)friend immediately launches into the usual Chick Universe reaction to anybody who shows signs of being even remotely religious:

He argues with the old guy for a while although his young friend remains spellbound by what the old guy is saying (as they always are in Chick comics, but nowhere else!) When the old guy tries to offer the kid a (gasp) Chick Comic, Mr Turtleneck loses his temper, thumps the old guy and tears up the comic.

They drive off with the kid driving, come to a level crossing with a train approaching and turtleneck urges the kid to keep going: "Go ahead! You can make it!"

Of course they don’t and find themselves in the antechamber to Hell. The kid accuses Turtleneck of being wrong: "You goofed!". Turtleneck immediately removes a rubber mask to reveal that he is none other than ol’ Nick himself, and replies: "No, little Buddy I wasn’t wrong - you were!"

ARTWORK: So-so. Not too much talking head stuff which is good. One of Chick’s worst renditions of the devil. Good lettering - this is how it should be done - lots of different styles that convey moods so much more effectively.

MEMORABLE POINTS: Not many to speak of. Bobby’s freaky friends milling around the OD scene are mildly amusing.

WEAK POINTS: As is so often the case, the final panel stuffs up an otherwise passable comic. Once again, if you’re going to Hell, and there’s positively no way out, what’s the point of Satan (or an Angel) lecturing you about it.…

What happens to the Devil’s horns when he’s wearing the rubber mask?
