This time Jay Hoover's Witnesses have their skeletons released from their various closets. You have to admire the way Jack manages to work in another swipe at the Catholic church while he's at it!

Bloody Idiots
Basically similar to "The Visitors", but this time the Jehovah’s Witnesses cop a serve! A lifetime of devotion, undone by a single encounter with a Chick Comic!

SYNOPSIS: A kid is rushed into the emergency ward, bleeding to death after a car accident. She needs a transfusion to save her life but the parents, being Jehovah’s Witnesses, won’t permit this. Fortunately Chaplain Barnes (an ex-J.W. himself) happens to be nearby, and by quickly running through all the inconsistencies of the "New Word Translation" (the J.W. version of the bible) he is able to turn the couple away from their false faith and permit the transfusion with plenty of time for tea and biscuits afterward!

ARTWORK: One of his poorer efforts. The illustration work is barely acceptable (although admittedly still better than some of his stuff). The artist is really no good at faces. Nowhere near as good as "The Visitors".

MEMORABLE POINTS: I liked the way Jack managed to cram in snide references to Catholicism in his demolishing of the JW belief system. It's a bit cheeky of him to point out that "Selling copies of The Watchtower door to door will not get you into heaven," while by implication giving away his comics will. ('Course, you have to buy them first...)

Using the King James Bible as a reference book to point up inconsistencies in somebody else's holy book is taking the expression "The Pot Calling the Kettle Black" to new extremes! (Oh well it seems that way to me, but perhaps that's because I don't understand it!)

WEAK POINTS: This is another one of his comics where the comic book format is really superfluous - just a lot of talking heads.
