Today our story was called "The Flight into Egypt". Can you imagine what it would be like to wake up in the middle of the night and have your parents tell you that you had to leave your home and friends and family and go to an unknown place? That is what happened to Jesus. He was just a very small boy and must have been confused and a little scared too. Mary must have been afraid too, but she and Joseph trusted God and knew that God would watch over them and help them to keep Jesus safe, just as he had warned Joseph.
We will once again be listening to stories of Jesus life; when he was a child and when he was grown up. Did you ever think about Jesus being a child? I wonder what he was like? Did he have many friends? Did he go to school? Did the other kids tease him? Was he ever sad? Do you think after Jesus grew up and became an adult that he ever got confused or sad or scared?
My second New Year's Resolution last year was to get to know Jesus better. I am so glad I have done better on that one, than on keeping this page updated. Any friendship takes effort and so does our relationship with Jesus. Why don't you make a resolution to get to know Jesus better and try reading your Bible or a story about him each day, and then talk to Him about it before you go to bed? It is a friendship beyond anything you can even dream of and is sure worth the effort it will take you.
I hope to see on Sundays. Have a wonderful week. Remember: Jesus loves you and so do I. (share a smile!)
Love,
Elaine
