November, 1998

Father Strey certainly gave an inspiring talk about helping the poor people in Latin America and the Carribean. I think it would be a good project for our class to start a continuing collection for them. I will make up a box this week and maybe you can think of doing a special job to earn money to help, or saving back some of your allowance to help these people. I will send it out to them each month. In our links for the month is the link to their webpage site. You can check it out, there is some interesting information there.
We are still waiting for our rooms to be done, but I think we have been having a pretty good time in the meantime. Each Sunday we have been singing, working on signs, hearing a story and having a snack! We have had some disappointment that I always bring apple juice, but from the number of spills we have had I think it is a much wiser choice than grape.
At the end of this month, on November 29, is the first Sunday of Advent. It is a special time to help you get ready for the real meaning of Christmas, so start now to think of what you can do either as a family project or individually to help make Christmas what it is really supposed to be. Jesus' birthday. Remember: "Jesus is the REASON for the Season."
Be an example in the world. Have you been practicing being "a light shining in the darkness". Show everyone by what you do and how you act that Jesus is an important part of your life and that he is your example. Don't forget to "Collect Smiles." You might change someone's whole day.
I hope to see on this next Sunday. Have a wonderful week. Remember: Jesus loves you and so do I. (share a smile!)
Love,
Elaine
