Our estimated expenses is about RM 200 per person.  This amount is too large for us that are only a student.  Thus, we have planned out a few activities in order to raise our Tahan fund.

As you would like to know that if we can minimized our expenses, then we will not required to pay more.  Therefore, we have go through the overall plan and look for optimum solution.  Let me tell how save we are:

  • We plan out our trip to have a minimum stay in Mt Tahan to prevent additional charges by the Taman Negara Resort.
  • Stay in camp rather stay in resort. (Kuala Tahan)
  • Take return train from KL - Jerantut - KL compare to take coach.  (We get 50% discount by KTM)
  • Search for cheap sales to get cheaper price for food.

Although we are reduce our expenses, but all the important items such as first aid, food and equipments are not leave out.

Our source of funds are as follows:

  • Selling of badges to students and friends.
  • Get sponsorship on food and drink by Nestle Malaysia.
  • Obtained RM 400/= sponsor from the school.
  • Selling of some drink during the school exhibition days.
  • Sponsorship by the school Scout Association fund.

It is a hard time for us to search for funding because it is very hard to appeal from people especially deal with money.  I have send out about 200 letters to corporate and company to source for funding and only 1 returns.  I also have appeal for advertisement on our Tahan Expedition booklet and it end up disappointments to us.

We really learn a lot.  Finally, each of us have to pay RM 80/=.  I would like to take the opportunity to thanks to Nestle Malaysia for their kindness.
