FOTR BUNNIES (3)
Plot Bunnies for "The Fellowship of the Ring" Fanfiction

F31. When the Company passes the Argonath, the Company sees Isildur’s face for the first time. That night, Frodo dreams about the fallen king... and so does Boromir.

F32. The Fellowship leaves Rivendell on their way south, and before a full day has passed, Boromir cannot bear how slowly they must walk to accommodate the short legs of the hobbits. Someone senses his impatience, and gives him some advice to help him deal with the slow pace of the journey ahead.

F33. When the Fellowship leaves Rivendell, Frodo is delighted to be traveling with a dwarf like Bilbo did. When Legolas sees this, he tries his hardest to speak politely and kindly to Gimli -- even when he’s tempted not to.

F34. Before Frodo ever left the Shire, he dreamed about “strange visions of mountains that he had never seen.” Write a scene where Frodo, looking up at Caradhras (or a different mountain, perhaps even in the Undying Lands), realizes where he’s seen it before. Does he begin to feel, as Galadriel said, that “perhaps the paths that you each shall tread are already laid before your feet”?

F35. Movie-bunny: The scene where Frodo awakens in Rivendell ends with Elrond saying, “Welcome to Rivendell, Frodo Baggins.” Continue this scene. What happens next? Who speaks? Does anyone enter (or leave) the room? Is Frodo well enough to get out of bed yet? It’s 10:00 in the morning -- is it time for second breakfast?

F36. Movie-bunny: After Frodo awakens in Rivendell, he’s shown on a balcony buttoning his shirt. Does his arm still pain him? Are his fingers as nimble as they were before his wounding? Does he truly believe that he’s reached Rivendell safely, or does he fear it’s all a dream?

F37. When Frodo awakens in Rivendell, he’s startled to see in a mirror “a much thinner reflection of himself than he remembered.” The next time Frodo sees himself in a mirror is in Minas Tirith -- what does he see this time?

F38. The first night in Moria, the Fellowship members do what they can to help Frodo get over the trauma of being attacked by the tentacled Watcher (OR) to help Sam get over losing Bill (OR) to help Gimli deal with the desolation that is Moria.

F39. Donated bunnie from Slightlytookish:
This is a movie-bunny. In FOTR:EE we see Merry and Pippin at the Green Dragon while Frodo and Sam are there. That night Gandalf sends Frodo and Sam off, and in the next scenes we see them traveling through the Shire. When they meet up with Merry and Pippin again it is in Farmer Maggot's fields, some distance away from Hobbiton. So why are Merry and Pippin wearing the same clothes we last saw them in? Why do they have bags/packs with them? Could it be that learned somehow that Frodo was leaving and followed him (or went ahead)? Maybe Gandalf tipped them off? Is this a "conspiracy"?

F40. Gandalf’s description of Frodo to Butterbur was quite detailed. Merry and Pippin take such pleasure in teasing Frodo about looking “fairer than most” and being a “perky chap with a bright eye”, that Frodo and Sam muse aloud as to how Gandalf might have described them -- much to Strider’s amusement and the younger hobbits’ embarrassment. (This can take place in Bree, on the way to Rivendell, or even in Rivendell with Gandalf present.)

F41. A short while after the Fellowship leaves Rivendell with the Ring, Elrond (or Arwen) visits Bilbo in his room to see how the old hobbit is doing. What do they talk about?

F42. Movie-bunny: By the time the Company descends Caradhras and its blizzards, all four hobbits are nearly frozen. How do Gandalf, Legolas, Gimli, Aragorn, and Boromir care for them until they recover?

F43. During the trip down the Anduin, Merry and Pippin challenge Boromir and Aragorn to a contest to see whose fishing technique work best -- that of hobbits or Men.

F44. In The Two Towers, we learn that "Sam was a good cook, even by hobbit reckoning, and he had done a good deal of the camp-cooking on their travels." When the Fellowship leaves Rivendell with the Ring, Aragorn, Gimli, Boromir, and Legolas are astounded by Sam's ability to create tasty feasts out of whatever they bring to camp -- and treat him with a deference that leaves Sam amazed, and Frodo delighted.

F45. Boromir told the Council that he and Faramir dreamed that they must “seek for the sword that was broken,” and of course it was assumed that this referred to Aragorn’s sword. Later, somewhere on the road, the Company talks about the dream, and Sam reveals that he’s convinced it was about Frodo’s sword -- broken at the Ford and given to Bilbo when his wounded master was brought to Rivendell -- and the companions begin to wonder if it might be true.
