Peace and order is a significant factor in development and progress of Sta. Maria, Bulacan. The Local Philippine National Police (PNP) station is located at the old municipal building. Thirty two (32) officers and men man it. It has two patrol vehicles, one motorcycle and one radio transceiver.
Assiting the police force in the maintenance of peace and order in the municipality are traffic aides, barangay tanods and other barangay officials.
The fire department, which is house in Poblacion, has the most beautiful building all over the region. Manned by 12 firemen, it has 2 fire trucks and is equipped with modern firefighting gadgets.
