URBAN-RURAL DISTRIBUTION

The population of the municipality is spread out in the twenty-four (24) barangays. Of these, twenty-two (22) are in the rural areas and the remaining two is in the urban area. Which is barangays Poblacio and Bagbaguin.

Despite its proximity to the City of Manila, the population of Sta. Maria is predominantly rural. The 1998 Census shows that a larger portion of the population is living in the rural countryside. Urban population of 1998 is totaled at 17,660 or 15.26% of the total population, while rural population is summed up at 98,049 or 84.74%. Nearness to Central Business Center tends to encourage people to live in the urban.

RELIGION

As of 1995, 93,000 0f Sta. Maria 101,071 population belong to the Roman Catholic which is about 92.02% of its totality; 2,055 are Iglesia ni Cristo and 1,495 are Born Again Christian. Other religious affiliation are show below:
