| Dark God. Very, very little is known about Lord Arrakon; indeed even his name is in doubt as to its validity. It is believed that Arrakon is some sort of spiritual entity, predating history, perhaps even the world itself. Virtually no information can be found on him or on any of his worshippers - if he had/has any. The only scrap of writing about him is the lost Blood Chronicles, a 14th century text written by a Canterbury monk. The monk himself was believed to be a serial child rapist, as well as a devout participant in many pagan blood rituals. For his crimes, he was eventually hung and eviscerated by angry peasants. His Blood Chronicles do not survive, other than a select few fragments, including the Armageddon Prophecy, which is supposedly a list of portents that must be realised before Arrakon can enter this world. This prophecy is being used by London in an attempt to release Arrakon from the Hell which he currently rules over. It was this same Hell that can be accessed by a portal beneath the city of Maiden Newton, and was indeed done so by Cainites of the Temple of that city. Arrakon allowed the Cainites to return to their own world in a deliberate ploy to also release his 'high priest', London. Following the capture and arrest of London by high-ranking members of the Sabbat, including Priscus Fortesque and Cardinal Luis, Lord Arrakon's limited influence on this world dwindled. However, after Tomsk, a follower of the depraved Path of Lightless Night, Embraced Jim Turner, a devout yet misguided member of the Society of Leopold, Arrakon found a way to reassert his grip on the mortal realm, by inserting his own dark consciousness into the mind of the twisted neonate Lasombra. Turner/Arrakon immediately proceeded to abduct the baby Hope - an intergral part of the Armageddon Prophecy. Turner was subsequently defeated before he was able to take Hope into Lord Arrakon's own realm. Ordered by new leader Sahjhan, Bishops Tomsk, Paige and Zy, along with Quentin and Sounds, embarked on what seemed like a suicide mission into Lord Arrakon's realm, to steal the only known surviving copy of the Blood Chronicles, which, it is hoped, will hold the key to defeating Arrakon and his minion, London. While here, however, the Cainites learned that the nightmare realm which Lord Arrakon now rules over was not always as it is now. Lord Arrakon apparently seized control of the realm, and many of its indiginous species, the Ki'Nae, reshaping it into his Hell. It would therefore appear, then, that Arrakon is not native to that realm after all. Things have recently gone into overdrive regarding Lord Arrakon and the Armageddon Prophecy. The victory of the Alliance in destroying London was |
indeed a mighty blow, yet Cornelius, who had made an alliance himself with London just a few nights prior to the destruction of the Abomination, remains, and still has the intention of continuing the work of fulfilling the prophecy. His efforts may not be needed, however, as The Beast formerly the baby, Hope has arisen, and is on a constant warpath of death and destruction. Should The Beast therefore be killed, this will mean the death of Hope, and hence the prophecy will be fulfilled. Lord Arrakon now need only wait. The Alliance realised this, however, and so, once The Beast was 'accidentally' killed by Guile, they had to act fast to destroy the threat that would otherwise swiftly claim the lives of all Humanity. The task of destroying Lord Arrakon would not be easy - to do so would require the destruction of the god in the Ki'Nae realm, the Deep Umbra and in the physical world, all at precisely the same time. This mission was ultimately successful, with Rakh destroying the true incarnation of the dark god, who at the last moment claimed to be the true Creator. The destruction of Lord Arrakon claimed the lives of Zy, Jemma, Paige 189, Rakh, Guile and Faye the Fairy, but Humanity was ultimately saved. Or so the Alliance hope; the timing had to be absolutely precise, and Guile, who was responsible for the destruction of Shelob, the giant spider that was Lord Arrakon's manifestation in the Deep Umbra, did so four seconds earlier than the destruction of Lord Arrakon in the Ki'Nae realm, and the Red Orb in the physical world. Still, the Human race was not destroyed, and the world did not end, so the remnants of the Alliance have assumed they succeeded... However Arrakon was not, as was believed, destroyed as London so aptly put it, how do you possibly kill a god? Rather, his being was exiled to a purgatory-style world, where he remained stuck until an opportunity came up nine months later, when London who had escaped his own death through a technicality returned to Maiden Newton, and unleashed a mystical bomb that altered reality. Although still with no powers, Lord Arrakon was now able to influence events himself, and while all the humans of Maiden Newton were under the spell of London now the Mayor in his Lupine-only persona of Wyrmbane the former Cainites of Maiden Newton, now all mortal, were not, and he was able to manipulate them into acquiring the sword of Grand Inquisitor Anthony Livingstone and use it to slay Wyrmbane, return the world to normal, and also though he did not of course say this free him from his purgatory. This they did, and now Lord Arrakon is free once again to begin his plans with the Armageddon Prophecy all over again all he needs is for another Elder to fall Inside Information: Arrakon was named after the chief villain in Jonathan's still (as yet) unpublished novel, Darkbird's Eye. |
