| May 4 SANTA CRUZAN TI AMIANAN Agoo Civic Center, Agoo, La Union An institutionalized festivity in Agoo, La Union. A very colorful event featuring 31 beauteous sagalas. Music and songs especially Dios ti Salve Maria, are heard all over the procession. Culminating this observance is the coronation of the Reyna Elena I, II & III in Celebration of the Patronal Town Fiesta in Agoo, La Union May 6 58TH ANNIVERSARY OF FALL OF CORREGIDOR Corregidor Island Commemoration of the Surrender of Corregidor Island by Gen. Wain Wright in May 6, 1942 to the Japanese. Flowers will be offered by veterans and their relatives to honor the dead soldiers at Pacific War. Memorial Topside, Japanese Garden of Peace-Tailside and Filipino Heroes Memorial-Tailside. May 6-9 RODEO FILIPINO Province of Masbate Rodeo Filipno is a yearly event which showcases Masbate as the cattle province in the country. Activities include bull riding, steer wrestling, calf roping, lassoning on foot, wrestling on foot, carambola, casting down large cattle, load carrying, wood chopping and many others. These activities are participated in by state universities, agricultural colleges, local government units and rancher�fs groups. May 7-14 SERENATA SA FORT SANTIAGO Fort Santiago Military Brass Band concert series. This activity revives the tradition of open-air concert during summertime. May 10 MAYAW-MAYAW FESTIVAL Pinabacdao, Samar "Pagmayaw" is an old waray word meaning to give offering and homages to the Pre-Spanish period and still practiced today by local farmers. May 11 APARRI FLUVIAL PARADE Aparri, Cagayan A fluvial festival in honor of St. Peter Thelmo, the patron saint of Aparri in thanksgiving for a bountiful harvest. A boat racing activity spearheaded by the municipal Government of Aparri featuring decorated outrigger bancas. May 11-12 CAPALONGA FESTIVAL Capalonga, Camarines Norte A festival celebrating the feastday of the Black Nazarene. Mostly of Chinese descents who seek favor for a favorable business climate pay homage to this small town in spite of the rough access road. A whole day series of processions are held around the main streets. May 11-15 SAN ISIDRO FESTIVALS: PAHIYAS SA LUCBAN AGAWAN SA SARIAYA BALWARTE SA GUMACA MAYOHAN SA TAYABAS Sariaya, Lucban Gumaca, Tayabas Quezon Homes are decked with kiping (multi-colored paper-thin leaf-shaped rice kropeck) and harvested vegetables; trade fair, civic parades, procession and other activities. May 12 FEAST OF SAN ROQUE Valenzuela City A tradition since the 18th century, this is a festival in honor of their Patron Saint San Roque. Street dancing highlights the event & participated in by the ladies coming from different barangays. According to legend, people who wish to have a husband or a boyfriend must join the street dancing before their wish is granted. May 14 PULILAN CARABAO FESTIVAL Pulilan, Bulacan The carabao procession featuring carabao kneeling in front of the church of San Isidro de Labrador in Pulilan. Karitone and other vehicles decorated as floats. May 15 TAWO-TAWO FESTIVAL R.T.R. Agusan del Norte It is the 2nd Scarecrow and Dance Competition. Since the municipality of RTR is known as the rice granary of Agusan del Norte, the local folks decided to launch this kind of festivity to give emphasis of the people�fs creativity and artistry particularly in scarecrow making. May 15 BALINTAWAKAN Pontevedra, Capiz A gathering of mostly Pontevedra�fs senior citizens, who are sentimentally bound together to an unwritten commitment to preserve a simple tradition began on the 31st of December long before the outbreak of World War II. May 17-19 OBANDO FERTILITY RITES Obando, Bulacan The main attraction is the "fertility dance" of childless couples on the streets praying that they bear children. The fiesta is observed in honor of Sta. Clara, San Pascual and Virgen de Salambao. May 18 PAHOY-PAHOY FESTIVAL Barugo, Leyte A whole day farmer's festivity highlighted by a grand parade and street dancing of people dressed like scarecrows. May 19-20 FARMER�fS FESTIVAL Bacarra, Ilocos Norte A festival highlights street dance parade participated in by farmers fully costumed at the seashore of Lucap Agri/Food/Photo exhibit, fluvial parade, sports competition/exhibition at the Children�fs and Quezon islands such as jet skiing and swimming. May 22 LUBI-LUBI FESTIVAL Gingoog City A unique festival whose contingents are dressed up in indigenous creations made of coconut products/concedes with the city fiesta celebration. May 22-24 MANGGAHAN SA GUIMARAS FESTIVAL Guimaras A commemorative celebration of the anniversary of Guimaras as a province. Highlighted by streetdancing, a technology fair, cultural presentations, painting and drawing contests, selection of mango bulilit queen, a marathon race and many more. May 27 SANTACRUZAN SA INTRAMUROS Intramuros It is one of the most colorful Maytime festival which depicts the finding of the Holy Cross by Queen Helena, the mother of Constantine the Great. May 28 PAHOY-PAHOY FESTIVAL Calbiga, Samar A whole day farmer's festivity highlighted by a grand parade and street dancing of people dressed like scarecrows. May 29-30 "BULAKLAKAN SA GENSAN" SANTACRUZAN FESTIVAL Gen. Santos City A Santacruzan Festival Paseo de Flores: Sagalas and Arches Selection of the best in Bulaklakan sa Gensan. May 31 SANTACRUZAN Pagadian City Parade of beauties with Reyna Elena carrying the Holy Cross. |
