Last Month:

Meeting on Friday, April 2, 2004.  Theme: Homemade Magic

Various members brought in homemade magic items made with craft store or commonly found items.  Rich Rau

showed a miser's dream bucket constructed out of a commercial spaghetti can and a very clever sliding die box,

constructed in a very different way.  Grant Golden showed close-up magic with colored cloth loops found in bags

at craft stores and a homemade imitation camera that makes a pop sound (small confetti pop jug) and shoots out

a coil snake from its lens.  Paul Buob showed sleight-of-hand magic using a top hat, miniature balls and miniature

top hats.  Paul also showed the Penquin Magic web site from his lap top computer.  Others in attendance brought

in various items as well.

Roundtable on Thursday, April 15, 2004

Number 3 in our series of monthly Roundtables on the 15th of each month at Hardee's in downtown East Peoria

from 7-9 p.m.  In attendance were Jason Coale, Tony Mitchell, Gordon Snow, Todd Smith, Greg Joyce, Troy Keefer

and Greg (Troy's nephew, 12).  Jason performed a very interesting packet card effect where cards turn over in a

packet one at a time and then turn all blank.  The accompanying storyline deals with imagination affecting the

transformation of the cards.  As a group, performance style and the Elmsley Count were discussed.  Gordon Snow

presented a new card effect where a volunteer's chosen card is revealed.   Greg Joyce showed Nightmare

Cards, whereby one of four red cards turns face-down each time, followed by the revelation of four blue-backed

cards.  Troy Keefer showed the Professor's Nightmare that he had been working on.  The Springfield IBM's magic

auction on Monday, April 12, in Springfield was discussed, as it was attended by some of our members.
