Johann Strauss Jr.

Birth: October 25, 1825 in Vienna
Death: June 3, 1899 in Vienna

He is the eldest son of Johann Strauss Sr., who became a musician against the wish of his father. Though his father wanted him to enter the banking profession, he began composition from the age of 6. And his mother helped him to take secret violin lesson. Finally, he arranged his own orchestra and made his debut as a concertmaster and conductor in 1844. He played not only his own works, also works of his father. He was considered to be the heir of his father's title, "The Waltz King".
