In 1792, he moved to Vienna where he learned from Haydn and others. Sad to say, he realised that he was losing hearing by 1815. Nevertheless, he completed 9 symphonies that strongly influenced the future. Some of them are very popular - for example, the Eroica (No. 3) which is originally dedicated to Napoleon, the Fate (No. 5), the Pastoral (No. 6), and the Choral symphony (No. 9).
