Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart

Birth: January 27, 1756 in Salzburg
Death: December 5, 1791 in Vienna

He lived in the midst of Enlightenment era - the period people had firm belief that science could advance human progress. His father, Leopold, was also a musician. Mozart could compose at the age of 5. He had been a violinist, keyboard player, improviser and composer at once by the age of 14. In 1781, Mozart met Joseph Haydn and became a close friend.
In the middle of 1800s, Mozart's works are listed in chronological order by Ludwig von Kochel. He was a botanist inspired by Mozart's music. It was a very hard work because Mozart was a profile composer. It took Kochel over 10 years to finish the catalog. This is what we call "Kochel number (K)".
