Session seven will introduce
what multimedia is and how it is used. You will understand
the importance of vision to the communication process
and how false-coloring is used in image enhancement.
Be able to tell the difference between bitmapped and
object-oriented graphics and how each is shown visually
in both video and print forms. Also, understand how
perspective and shading affect both two-dimensional
and three-dimensional images. Be able to recognize
how blending can improve shaded surfaces and how animation
is achieved with many images that differ only slightly
as well as the difference between speech synthesis
and speech recognition. Know why recognition of disjointed
speech is easier than recognition of continuous speech.
Also, know the various audio formats used in computers
as well as what MP3 is and how it impacts the World-Wide-Web.
Finally, understand how MIDIs aid composers and performers
in all aspects of the music industry.
The
following are the activities for this Week. It is important
to emphasize that each assignment is designed to be performed
in one day, and maximum two if pertinent.
