Session eleven will explain what the "education
factory" is and how it influenced society's impression
of education. You will understand why computer learning
aids the educational process by appealing to all types
of learners and appreciate how computers can be experts
in any field. Be able to analyze a computer program
for use in teaching knowledge or thinking skills.
You will comprehend how the computer can be used to
teach cognitive skills, psychomotor skills, and social
interaction skills and how the focus of education
has moved from the teacher imparting knowledge to
the student actively learning a topic. Be able to
recognize
the goals of what computers can teach and how programs
are meeting those goals and how the use of CD-ROMs,
local area networks, and the Internet has broadened
the range of possible learning activities. Also, understand
how distance learning can benefit an absent learner
while still imparting the needed knowledge and how
presentation technology has produced items of special
use to educators and trainers, including both software
and hardware products. Finally, you will appreciate
the values and advantages of the virtual classroom.
The
following are the activities for this Week. It is important
to emphasize that each assignment is designed to be performed
