Network Concepts and Communications

Session five will explain
the human need to communicate has motivated the development of networking technology. You will identify the various types of physical connections possible in a network and the five basic properties of a network link and how each contributes to the link. Be able to understand the different ways of connecting computers in a network (bus, ring, star, tree, and fully connected). Also, identify the uses and benefits of DANs, LANs, MANs, and WANs. Be able to communicate how protocols control the flow of information between networks and how information is packaged and repackaged for each intervening network when it is sent on the Internet.
