Time Line:Currently I have two therories behind the ff7 plot. My had was working fine until I tried to calculate everyones age and saw what happened. The first is that Sephiroth was born about 18 years old by lucrecia giving birth to him and then Hojo putting him in one of the reactors. This theory was also used in Space Above and Beyond, where people were created to be 18 years old and the used in the army. This would explain some gaps in the whole story line. The next is just that when vincent is locked away he manages to not age somehow. And at the same time manages to grow his hair out. And shave regularly. (Scratches head.)
My screwed up version of the timeline:
++ The jenova project is started, and the reactor at nibelhiem is used.
++ Hojo, Lucrecia and Vincent go off to Nibelhiem.
++ Lucrecia is experimented on, she gives birth to sephiroth and then runs away. (Cloud says sephiroth is older than him, so he must have been born before them lot. Vincent also says he didn�t stop gast either, so Gast must have been present at the experiments. Hence we�ll say this is about 22 years ago. )
++ Professor gast leaves the Jenova project, taking Ifalna with him to icicle inn.
++ Hojo hunts them down and has Gast shot.
++ Ifalna and Aeris are taken into custody (21 years ago)
++ Ifalna and Aeris escape and Aeris is brought up in midgar with Elmyra.
++ Hojo continues to experiment on Sephiroth.
++ About five years later, Vincent is locked away by Hojo.
++ Sephiroth is signed into SOLDIER.
++ Sephiroth goes back to Nibelhiem, (seven years ago � according to Tifa) the town is burned down. Sephiroth is thrown in the lifestream, Zack and Cloud are taken in by shinra soldiers. Tifa is rescued by Zangan and taken to Midgar.
++ Zack and Cloud are experimented on and then escape, and start on their journey to Midgar.
++ The game starts with Cloud in Midgar (at the start of the game).
In an effort to explain this slightly more, I went through and calculated up everyone's ages.

No matter how I iron this out, however, there seems to be a lot of problems in the story line. Age in final fantasy seems to be quite different as well � as soon as you hit 30, you�re old � so I�ve presumed a lot of things in this theory. Sephiroth will probably go through some kind of accelerated ageing due to the Mako he was subjected to, and also the Jenova cells within him will allow him to change his form at will, so he could appear older than he actually was. They�re also some aspects to his character which suggest he�s younger than he is � that weird laugh for example, he looks about five when he does that, no offence like. Also, you can join SOLDIER at 16, so I�m presuming you can join the Turks at roughly that age.
