Red XIII (Nanaki):The stats: Age: 45 (about 15 in human years) Height: 120cm Birthdate: unknown Birthplace: Cosmo Canyon Blood: Unknown. (Probably mako if Hojo had his way about things.) Occupation: Beast. If only I could put that on my CV... Weapon: Head dress Who is Red XIII? Okay, let�s get off to a proper start - he isn�t called Red XIII, that�s just a name Hojo made up for him (Hojo�s too twisted to use people�s real names apparently). His real name is Nanaki (and that�s what he will know as from now on - we don't want to incourage Hojo.) and he lives in Cosmo canyon with his grandfather - Bugenhagen. He�s about 30 or so years old, but in terms of his race, that doesn�t even make him a teenager. Nanaki is part of a dying species, as far as I can tell he is the last one since his mother died earlier and his father, Seto, died trying to protect the canyon from the Gi tribe (shown below). If this is right, you have to wonder where the children come from at the end of the game� Also, Hojo was experimenting on him in the same way he did Cloud, so why he doesn�t go mental like Cloud and the rest of the clones is beyond me. What the guide says: �Although is fiery red fur may make him look like a wild animal, Red XIII�s intellect is well above that of most humans. Not much is known about his origin. He is currently being held captive in Shinra headquarters where he�s forced to participate in their twisted experiments. Red XIII�s strong at both physical and magical combat. His sharp teeth and claws work well with his close-range fighting style, however, this limits his combat options and forces him to take a spot on the front line. There is a long range weapon for red, but it lacks materia slots and forces him to act as a fighter. Red XIII makes a solid magic user when loaded down with materia, but performs best with a more balanced approach. It �s best to always take advantage of his physical strength as well as his startling intellect.� Talk about twisted experiments - they�re trying to make him breed with Aeris - ew! Grossness! Nanaki was always in my party until Vincent and Cid came along. A gave him a lot of the good kind of materia since generally at the beginning of the game, only cloud and aeris were good with it. I don�t think his limit breaks are quite as useful however. Somehow, in my game they just didn�t seem to be as effective and looked like normal attacks His Limit Breaks: Nanaki�s limit breaks have sometimes have a number of weird effects� Level one: SLED FANG - Charges though an opponent, taking off HP LUNATIC HIGH - Castes haste on all your party level two: BLOOD FANG - Like sled fang, except more powerful and some MP is transferred to red afterward. STARDUST RAY - a cluster of stars fall over the opponents and cause damage to a group of enemies. Level three: HOWLING MOON - Casts berserk and haste on Nanaki, which has it�s disadvantages. EARTH RAVE - attacks a group of enemies with five elemental attacks. Level four: COSMO MEMORY - Blasts the opponents with a ray of plasma.
