Cloud Strife
mini cloud Cloud Strife:

The stats:
Age: 21
Height: 5 7
Birthdate: August 19th - he's a Leo
Blood: AB
Occupation: Mercenary now, but used to be an ex-member of SOLDIER (in his imagination), and was actually a Shinra Soldier in real life.
Weapon: Buster Sword

Who is Cloud?:
Cloud is your main character throughout the game. Normally youll have to keep him in your party but this shouldnt matter as hes a very versatile kinda guy. Cloud starts the game as a mercenary working with avalanche to blow up a reactor in Midgar who used to be a member of SOLDIER. It turns out later on that this is not necessarily the case. Cloud grew up in Nibelhiem along with Tifa and went off to join SOLDIER. Tifa and cloud were childhood friends though it is fairly clear Tifa would like something else. Unfortunately (or not) for cloud, he didnt make it into SOLDIER so instead became a Shinra soldier instead. Later on he goes back to Nibelhiem along with Zack and Sephiroth to sort out the problem with the reactor. When things go wrong for Sephiroth, Cloud is the guy that kills him and chucks him into the lifestream. After this happens though, both cloud and Zack are pretty worn out and are taken by people from Shinra and subjected to mako and Jenova cells as well. Zack seems alright (maybe coz hes already had the mako treatment before) but clouds conciouness diminishes rapidly. Both of them end up escaping and going to Midgar, where Zack is shot for escaping and cloud is left since it looks as if hes dying in anycase.
The whole game starts up virtually from this point when cloud picks up Zacks buster sword and goes into Midgar, assuming the life of a mercenary.

What the guide says:
At age 21, Cloud leads the life of a mercenary for hire. As an ex-member of Shinras elite squad known as SOLDIER, his fighting skills are in high demand. Cloud joins the rebel group AVALANCHE for their first strike against one of Shinras huge Mako reactors that surround the city of Midgar
The story line of Final Fantasy VII revolves around Cloud. In fact, most of the time youre required to have him in your party because he plays a key role in most of the events in the game. Over time Cloud proves to be a great asset, because his powerful sword technique is nearly unmatched. Youll want to keep cloud in your frontline most of the time to take full advantage of his sword technique. His magic skills are solid but dont overload him with materia.

If your game went anything like mine, Cloud levels up a lot faster than the rest as well and also seems to gain limit breaks quicker. I fitted him out with materia like counter and deathblow to take most advantage of his sword skills. I let the other slightly weaker characters take care of the magic side of things. Deathblow later becomes useless when you reach higher levels as you start to take out 9999 in anycase.

His Limit Breaks:
Level one:
BRAVER - cloud leaps in the air and chops an enemy in two. This tends to be a little stronger than cross slash.
CROSS SLASH - Cloud attacks an enemy with several slashes which sometimes causes paralysis but only to weaker enemies.
Level two:
BLADE BEAM - Cloud sends a wave of energy from his sword which clashes into one opponent. The rest then separates out into smaller waves which attack the rest.
CLIMHAZZARD - Cloud skewers one enemy with his sword and then leaps up into the air, ripping it out. Nice.
Level three:
METEORAIN - Cloud jumps up I the air and pulls a Sephiroth on your opponents by slamming four meteors into them.
FINISHING TOUCH - Cloud creates a whirlwind which either sucks opponents straight from the battle or sends them plummeting back to the ground, causing damage. This works better on many opponents and is wasted on bosses.
Level four:
OMNISLASH - cloud attacks all opponents many times over with his sword. This can take out as much damage as the KOTR materia.

And finally, a picture:
Okay, Ill go and search for a better picture at a later date, but this will have to do for now.
