The stats:
Age: 35
Height: 6� 5��
Birthdate: 15th december - he's a Sagittarius.
Birthplace: Corel
Blood: 0
Occupation: Leader of avalanche
Weapon: Gun-arm

Who is Barret?:
Barret is the leader of Avalanche. He lives in the Slums of Midgar with Marlene, his daughter - though I�m not completely sure whether it�s his of Dyne�s. He used to live in Corel, until Shinra burnt it down, killing his wife. (Told you Shinra were a load of pyromaniacs.) He went to Midgar and had a gun grafted onto his arm so as he could get his revenge against Shinra, which seems like a sturdy revenge plan to me.
At the start he�s used to being the leader and so is a little uneasy when cloud starts to take over, but comes round in the end.
Although Shinra also took his life apart, Barret�s problems with them hardly ever get thought about by people compared to some of the others, maybe because he's slightly less of a bishonen than the others, which is a shame really.

What the guide says:
�Barret is the 35 year old leader of the Rebel group known as AVALANCHE He leads the team in the quest to stop Shinra�s Mako reactors and save the life of the planet. Although he is truly devoted to the team, Barret often regrets having to leave his young daughter, Marlene, alone or in the care of others. Barret�s motives are unclear, but most believe that Shinra was somehow responsible for the death of his wife. Although he may not look it, Barret is one of the most versatile characters in the game. Unlike most, he has weapons for close -and long- range combat, which enables him to perform well in either rank. You'll want to keep Barret in the back rank most of the time because this enables him to cause heavy damage without taking an equal amount in return. Avoid loading Barret up with materia that reduces his hit-points and strength. You may want to use him as a damage magnet later, and if so he�ll need to be as strong as possible.�
I keep Barret in the back row most of the time, but as soon as I found Vincent, he was out of my party (hehehe).

His Limit Breaks:
Barret�s limit breaks are generally useful for causing good amounts of damage, which is generally what you want limit breaks for.
Level one:
BIG SHOT - a big ball of energy gathers on his gun, which he then fires at an opponent.
MINDBLOW - same as above, but takes of MP instead of HP.
Level two:
GRENADE BOMB - launches a grenade at your opponents.
HAMMER BLOW - knocks at enemy out of battle with a single punch. This limit is useless in boss fights as it doesn�t cause any direct damage.
Level three:
SATELLITE BEAM - Uses a satellite to attack a group of enemies. (cool! - which I had one.) This is less useful against a single enemy.
UNGERMAX - shots the enemies lots of times and works better than satellite beam in general.
Level four:
CATASTROPHE - Hovers over your enemies and burns them with a load of plasma. Heh heh heh
